So the vents, my actuator is located under the drivers dash, right of the steering column, right behind the radio. Dealership wanted 400 to fix, because the advised way is to remove the entire dash. I replaced 2 actuators 1 that stands alone, and the wheel which has one attached. Noticed the lever for the vents would not stay in position. karrpilot Oswego, IL 54, joined Jul. 2009	Perhaps the service manual says that in order to access the failed part(s), the dash would have to come out. Then they quoted you accordingly to that manual. However, one can do things as they wish if they are smart enough. I am blessed with a small frame and small hands. I can sometimes get at and access items the bigger mechanics can not. So where as they might indeed have to pull a dashboard, I could possibly get away without doing so.

21stcent South Prairie, WA 65, joined Nov. 2007	Just bought a junker, 93 Ford Tempo. I've had some good junkers over the years, minor problems but engines and trans have held up. Well this one has a list of small problems. Today was fix the drivers window. Get the motor out, had to drill 2 holes to access 2 of the 3 bolts holding it in. Motor out, pull cover on gear drive and find that the safety feature worked and broke the 3 plastic balls. Clean out the grease and plastic pieces, took 3- 1/4" nuts in place of the balls, grease the snot out of it. Put it back in, window goes up and down. Simple fix. Did this to 76 Cordova I had 30 years ago. Window motors have not changed! Next? Figure out why the electric door locks aren't working. The locks won't even work manually. My problem is the actuator is bolted in with one bolt that has an odd size Allen wrench. Not Standard, not metric. I'm thinking 4" grinder. Cut the head off. Nope Vise-Grips won't work, slopped head. Yes I'll try slotting it first, MAYBE flat screwdriver.
