6 months ago today, I had to put my Scooter kitty down after having her for 20 years. She had the loudest purr and with her last breath she gave me the best purr to say good bye. Tears still fall when I think of her, but she's in a better place and I'll see her again someday.

Yes. I had to put my 4 year old Shih Tzu down on Aug. 20, 2008. It seems like yesterday. He was in pain and that's how you know it's time. He loved the kids in the neighborhood, so we had a "Celebration of Life" for him about a week later. We did an activity where we all blew bubbles up to the sky. The kids called it "Kisses to Tichon".
I don't think I'll ever not miss him. But life goes on and I too believe he will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for me. Gee, good luck with your dog. It's a hard decision to make if you have to. The fact that you love him will make it easier.

Thought I'd stop in and give ya'll an update. Jake seems to be doing fine although there is another growth on the outside of the existing tumor. He's still breaking the bank with his eating habits!! Still mosies over to wipe his doggie boogers on me. YUCK!!! I think, and am hoping, I kind of jumped the gun on this. I believe he may just stick around to annoy me for quite some time!!
I would again like to thank everybody for your thoughts and experiences. I'm sure they were hard to think of again and my heart goes out to you all.

sb,
I am sooooo glad to hear that Jake is doing better than you expected.... I do think it is wise of you to prepare for the worst though, it will make it easier for you to make the decision if and when you have to....
I wish you and Jake many more happy years together.
