an 89 Firebird with a 2.8 liter.
It was my first car...has 21,000 miles on it.
ended up being the biggest piece of mechanical nightmare junk I ever had when it reached 75,000 miles.
trade it in for a brand new 2002 Cobra Mustang.

an old corvair I had long ago, manifold heater, would get frost on the dash, lol, and the crankcase breather would stop up, and throw oil out of the dip stick tube. poor power, ugly, ect. but when I bought it, I was desperate for something to ride. and it was cheap.

I bought mine for $200 to drive 12 blocks to work & back. It never quit running just had to cobble it up to keep going.
I must have had 500 pounds of scrap steel and welding rod holding all the rust together.

I also had a 1972 Maverick. 200 sick cylinder, 3 on the tree. Converted it to a floor shifter. I had to install the hottest sparkplugs, because it burnt oil so bad. Eventually, I had to run gear lube instead of oil to keep the plugs from fouling.
Rear leaf springs were shot, so I got a set of shackle extenders. That leveled the car out, but put so much stress on the mounts, it split the frame rails. Well, between that and the rust.
I don't remember what finally caused me to junk it. The short circuit in the steering column that filled the insides of the car with smoke, or when I went over a railway crossing and the body flexing broke the exhaust system in 1/2.

oh,I can imagine. I had a friend with a 74" Stingray....and I liked that year too. a 75" is as far as I go,before I started liking them again between 2002 to 2013.

Yeah 427s were great but realistically it's a great waste. It sounds good and roars good but really ,how often do you get to fourth gear?

But it was designed for a 3 speed manual.
That's what the car came with unless you specified differently.
Most people wanted the 3 speed manual
As it was the basis of American sports cars in that era.

You're probably right but I was not alive in that era .I only know what the manufacturer reported as production specifications which listed 3 models for the showroom floors..which are 2speed powerglide automatic. ..3 speed manual transmission and 4 speed manual transmission.

I am pretty much the last owner of everything,, I am the king of duct tape & bailing wire, I buy a ride and drive it until its absolutely dead,,proved a jeep st6 could go 500 miles with a rod banging and still ran (although very loud)
I have always been more of the "its cheaper to fix it instead of getting rid of it" type
so to answer the question, ive pretty much been utterly done with everything I ever got rid of because I drove 'em to hell myself

Ya know pen, I'm the same way. I've thought about this question and can't think of any car I was happy to get rid of. Was sad some of them went to the junk yard because I didn't have time/money to fix it.

A 97 Grand Prix.
Before that, I had a 93 Buick Regal, with the 3.8. great Car, I put 320,000 kliks on it, no problems.
So I bought the grand Prix, with the same Engine, thinking it was the same car.
But electrical problems! Terrible, every thing acted up on it. I think that the difference was from during the time between 93 and 97, GM went from delco to more Chinese made electronics.
