i have been making an effort to pull up stretches of the drip line, (100' +), whenever i head out into the garden area now... it's buried under roots and dead vines etc.
once i get it out of the garden i can till all the vines and dead stuff into the ground - if it ever dries out enough around here!!!
4+ years of drought and we are getting water big time this winter!!!

Gonna be another month or two before the mud dries enough to plant any thing at all here..
Maybe this summer I'll get the greenhouse put together and be able to grow a little something over next winter

got about 85% of the waterlines up and out of the way...
now i just need a couple weeks of DRY!!! hahaha
i picked a couple handfulls of weeds out of the greenhouse too...
next time i'm in town i am gonna get some starter soil and seeds...
and get a bunch of ?whatever i decide? seeds started...

I put in 8 fruit trees and a bunch of shrubs n bushes last fall when everything was on clearance at the end of the season
Waiting impatiently for spring to show what survived..
Another 3 months or so

i don't have anything to plant yet...
found an old pic and took a new one of the same spot
8 years later...
you can see the waterpipe in both shots...
the 3 small twigs in the first shot are the giant tree in the next shot - mimosa
and today i am working on weeding and cutting branches around the big pond now that it's full again...
the white pipe is a downspout that i have coming from part of my garden porch...
other than the obvious grasses, the tallish stuff on the island is horsetail and the short stuff in the foreground is spearmint...

Outlining the path around the pond inside and out.double lines for raised plant beds
Lots of work
But I have enough mulch
Things should be fairly easy to keep weed free and easily maintained

I've started a new program , If I'm working near the Quarry always pick up a thousand pounds on the way home. this planting rocks is pretty cool,, really low maintenance,

It helps if ya lay down a thick layer of mulch under your rock,with the mulch extending out several inches past the rock....
That way ya don't have grass n weeds growing up between your new stones

i have crab grass, morning glory and vetch to name a few of the pain in the a** plants that enjoy living here...
mulch is always the key to weed control...
along with soil improvement, moisture retention etc...
i first started mulching in the late 70's!!!

Most of the Rock is going in drainage areas, so I'm planning on Sand and half inch gravel. and I'm in a great snake environment so I definitely I'm trying to eliminate any hiding areas,
I seeded my front, side Yard!! with the herb gardens and the curved rock stream / walkway it damn near looks sexy,, I think I might need to get out more

the local Community College started their plant sale today. Extremely disappointed in their heirlooms selection usually they're pretty good. Still blew my hundred-dollar budget though, they did have some pomegranates though. anyway so I've been planting,, Everything !

There's a naturalist organization here that sells native plants in the fall
I found a nursery up by the lake that carries native plants and flowers in the spring as well..
I put in a bunch last fall
But this spring is about the fruits n veggies!
Got about %75 of them in

I have a bunch of pomegranates to dig and move to better spots... they are volunteers...
Picked up 11 tomato and 5 pepper plants yesterday... gotta wait for the graden area to dry out a little before i can plant them... had a pretty good rain system blow through the last day or so...

Got in 6 or 7 types of tomatoes
6or7 kinds of peppers
Crookneck squash
3 kinds of cucumbers
Eggplant
Zuchini
And some melons...
Still gotta do punkins,corn
And a few other veggies
Then onto flowers
We've got a strong early spring this year
But not much for rain

i have more fenceposts and fence to put in - 3 more tomato plants and 5 peppers left to get in the ground... a lot of the pumpkin, and squash and a few cucumbers appear to have reseeded and are already sprouting all over the place!

Lived on 400 acre grove in Florida and sprayed a mix of 6 raw eggs in 5 galons of water for deer, just found out this summer that it works on moose up here in Alaska also!
