I'm sure he could be, but I think that even if he started off honest, he'd soon be learning to lie about everything to cover his tracks. Look at it this way-if he was honest to his women about dating others at the same time, he'd have no women. So I think lying would come along soon for him. JMO

Nope. The reason they are a player is that they aren't honest about either what they are doing... or what their intentions are. By being dishonest, they take away the other persons right to make an informed decision. THAT makes them a player.
LOTS of people get mis-labeled by this term. I think a lot of it has to do with the person doing the name calling not paying attention to what the "player" is saying. It's a term that gets used way too much IMO. If you're dating someone, and you haven't asked what their intentions are (I'm not talking marriage here... I'm talking "are we exclusive? or, dating other people?") then you really deserve to be played IMO. IMO, you can only yell "player" if you've asked all the right questions and the other person has lied.
If people would start taking responsibility for their own well-being there wouldn't be so many people getting played.

Ok think of the term: Honor among thieves!
So you team up with a thief, you both work to steal something. He then tells
you hey you can trust me pal, I'll hold the loot for awhile and then cut
you your share at a later day and time. A few weeks pass all is cool till it comes
time to get your half of the score and then POOF!
He's gone with your half of the loot!
A thief is a thief. Can't change him. It's in his nature.
A player is a player. Can't change him. It's in his M.O.
Smart people accept people for WHO they are and walk away if
they can't deal with someone who is WHAT they are. Get honest with
yourself and see people as they really are.

What I'm hearing is that if a man ever DOES date more than one woman, he will somehow warp into a lier who can't get dates.

A player is someone who lies and manipulates others into thinking they are the only one.
Just because you date a few at a time, it doesn't mean you are a player. Lying about it makes you one.

any one who lies to get what they want from people eventualy hurt themselves. i hate hearing the word "player" it sounds so stupid when guys call themselves players and then the stupid fools that date them cry when they cheat on them and treat them like objects. how can you take anyone serious after they call themselves players?

Agree with Awakening on this point.
Most people don't change at all. Dont hope for someone whose potential you are "hoping to see". I am talking only about personal things, like character etc.
Not professional development.
It doesn't usually happen.

If a guy responded with "What do you think?" to my question of "Are you seeing other women?" that'd be the last time he saw me.
You're correct about "it's not lying if you don't tell" though... it all goes back to being responsible for our own well-being.

It sounds like you have the classic and traditional concept of a player down pat.....I think everyone does.
Here's more what I'm curious about....
"Hi, I'm a guy and I sometimes date more than one woman at once."
"PLAYER !!!!.....LYING STINKING FILTHY CHEAT !!!!...........get the torches and pitch-forks !!!"
Laying seems to always be associated with dating more than one woman at a time....and the term "Player" seemms to be the bridge.
