here is a bandage for your injured DH nose, arkansas....

and chemistry is all about attraction... and looks are a very big part of that. They are not the whole equation, tho, I will give you that...

if you're hot as hell but dumb as dirt, I personally have no interest in that.

I'm not making judgments about what people should or should not be attracted to.

I am making judgements on the process, though.

Looks ARE important, but who looks good to you, may not look (be attractive) to someone else.

Hmmmmm.....so why is the "no chemistry" phenomenon only brought up at first face-to-face meetings (read the threads....99% of the time, that is when the term is used)?

People get along fine and have wonderful chemisrty until they see each other?

Feels like a contradiction to me.

I'm thinking that most people have it in their minds that chemistry is an involuntary thing.......something they have no control over........

This fits well into the concience-salve theory.

thing is though, I still give a chance to women that dont attract me at first,,,its not until I'm able to talk to them a bit do I find that connection. My point is if women dont give you a chance to make the connection, then how do they know that your not someone they might be attracted to but just passed up.

You would be surprised how many people tell themselves that "looks don't matter that much" but down deep part of their self worth is in how attractive a potential partner is to their peers. Nobody really wants to show up with the ugly duckling and introduce them to their friends. If they can bring "prince charming" to the ball then they feel that everyone must think they are more worthy because they have landed a prize catch.

How sad that people of that type miss out on so much available happiness. How many times have you seen a particularly good looking person with someone rather plain and thought "gee, what did they see in him/her"? What you saw was at least one person who truly didn't care about "looks". Or see two rather palin people together who are obviously very happy with each other? Now you ahve seen two people who don't care about looks.

And yes, the older most people get, the less things of that nature matter. I say most because there are always some people who are vain regardless of how old they get. They will never mature emotionally.
