Just finished the book: Leaving the Saints.
Non-fiction memoir by a woman who is the daughter of the one of the top intellectuals in the Mormon church. She finally had to quit the church, and she is a great writer, as she describes the pain she felt by being in the church, and also the hurt she suffered by leaving. She also writes about the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her father.
She was very brave; but I felt so sorry for her as she was forced to break the relationships she had with her parents, and even her siblings.
Anyone, like I, who was raised in a very traditional religious atmosphere can relate.

I am currently reading Paradise by Toni Morrison. I've also read The Bluest Eye countless times by her. I read A Mercy by her last week (I need to read it a few more times, I know I'll find something I missed the first time). I also read Wifey by Judy Blume, that book was delicious, I used to read her childrens books when I was in elementary, but this adult novel was great by her. I need to find out if she's written anymore!

The Keep was an excellent read....never seen the movie & it's been out for years. The story was simple to under stand.

I made it 3/4 thru Stephen Kings "Salems Lot" yesterday.....it ain't real good. The problem with that one like with other writers is they go into too much detail about things........characters, setting..............I'm on page 250, but probably skipped 75 pages a BS details.

Right now, I'm gearing up for school, so I'm reading several books at once, most of them "classics" that I've read before.

The Catcher in the Rye, by Salinger
Farenheit 451, by Bradbury
The Great Gatsby, by Fitzgerald
The Crucible, by Miller
A Midsummer Night's Dream, by Shakespeare
Night, by Wiesel

Now, for fun, and to break up all the classic-novel reading, I've got 2 short story/essay books by my bed: One Hundred Great Essays (Diyanni) and Welcome to the Monkey House (Vonnegut)

I just finished 'Three Cups of Tea' fighting terrorism one school at a time. it is Greg Mortenson's project, building schools in Pakistan and what he learned from his experiences. The first chapters contain a lot of geography of the land in order to better understand the story . It is an excellent book.

I am now rereading "Riding the Dragon" by Wicks dealing with our spiritual psyche. It's reflective.
