mischiefmanaged Bellevue, WA 48, joined Jul. 2010	I have a digital camera (kodak z990). Taking pictures in a dance club reveals a lot of dust. Any way to get around that? The flash tends to light everything up. The flash is fixed, otherwise I'd try and bounce it off the ceiling or something.

When watching someone spin fire at night, or lights, it creates circular patterns of light. With a typical slr I could open up the aperture, use a higher iso, and a slower shutter speed. When I do it with my digital camera though, change the settings, I don't get the "tracers". Any suggestions? also, the save to memory card is slow. Doesn;t matter what card class, they are all slow. For my next camera purchase, is their like a "bus" speed or something I should watch out for? It really seems like a hardware bottleneck issue...

tater79 Springfield, IL 38, joined Jun. 2008	I'm just starting out in learning the basics........and figured since I do enjoy taking pictures, might as well try and sell them to stock photography places if I ever make the cut) I applied at shutterstock and they accepted 5 out of 10 of my pictures, but I needed 7 to make the cut.......so I have to practice more I suppose . here are 2 I took yesterday I don't know if their "worthy or not though" so feel free to tell me what I'm doing wrong the camera is a DMC-FZ35 I shoot in raw/jpeg . and here is one macroed more, but I like the other one better, because it only slightly blurs the backround but that's my opinion [Edited 8/29/2012 10:03:04 PM ]

I had to get one too on eBay a few years later (a much cheaper reconditioned one) and loved it! I had never even used a film camera much before. Just a cheap 16mm instamatic. I bought a slightly used D200 on eBay 2 yrs ago. I shoot plants, bugs, nature, old houses & bldgs, outdoor scenes, people, just about anything. Still just an amateur, but friends always compliment how good my pics turn out! Here is a sample, One of my earlier pics from 2004 shot thru the back window at home with my coolpix 995.

When I was around 10, my mom gave me an old 35mm SLR and I had a step dad that showed me all the basics on how to take a picture on a camera that is completely manual. I've always kept a nice point and shoot around, and a few months ago, I broke down and got a T3i with a few nice lenses. I like to combine hobbies, and since my other big interest is cars, I combine the two. I especially like night photography. I'll do 1-second exposures, completely handheld and get some amazing shots.
