Isn't it about time that we started pointing out how immoral the positions of the right wing are? By their opposition to all of the reforms from healthcare to monetary policy, they have made it quite clear that they believe that property rights mean more than the rights of people?
The shrill shouting of their positions is more like a page from than "Mein Kampf" than it is from the Declaration of Indepence. They are shoutng their lies so loudly and longly that the more gullible citizens of our republic are beginning to believe them, and we do so little to counter.
At times, I am almost ashamed to be a Kentuckian, what with the stupidity and hatefullness of Mitch McConnelbeing aired so often. I have voted against this republican idiot for over 20 years but the entrenched big money interests just keep him in power.
Back to the main point, the only way Lincoln was able to push the Emancipation Proclimation was by turning the anti-slavery view point as immoral. Isn't it time that we exposed the conservative/rebupublicans for the uncaring immoral people that they are?

The only problem is that the right's base anymore are people that can be psychologically and morally manipulated; they will accept what should be plainly immoral positions all for the sake of "their" representatives winning. OP, I agree with you in principle; but I fear that in practice, it won't make a damn bit of difference; pointing out one's immorality is only useful in curbing immoral behavior if the person behaving immorally has morals to begin with!
The time to have done this was back in the 1980's -or even before- when so-called Conservatism -or as I like to refer to it, Regressivism- was first taking root; now, our only hope for this country to get back to it's Progressive roots is to keep fighting the good fight, and take heart in the recent study that shows that people who are optimistic tend to live longer.

You are right Shiloh...its very paradoxical that we profess ourselves a Christian nation while at the same time practice such a harsh social and economic darwinism. We profess individual rights and liberties in our Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and Bill of Rights while at the same time, our government and courts, with our own misguided support, give away those liberties rightfully bestowed upon the individual to powerful corporations and special interest groups.
We like to profess that in this country - its one man, one vote. But we all know that isn't true, especially when you consider a minority of U.S. Senators can dwarf the will of a majority - the will of the people. Frankly, of the few times that I have read the Constitution or Bill of rights, never have I seen in either document that any corporation or special interest group could vote or had rights that trumped those of the individual. Yet we have the Joe Liebermans of the world who cast their vote for rich and powerful entities that stymies the will of the majority of Americans.
I'm not sure exactly when this bait and switch all occurred, maybe it was being done parallel to the very writing of those aforementioned documents. But I do know that government of the people, by the people has long since been replaced by government of the people, by the rich and powerful. And sadly, I don't think that will ever change. We'll just continue to walk around espousing how much freedom we enjoy, when in fact we have very few economic and/or social freedoms that can't be tamped down by the rich and powerful.

Absolutely nothing the Republican Party stands for is supportable. They're not the party of the people. They're the party of Corporate Welfare.
