Yep, I just came back from a 5 day trip to Guam all on my own! And I currently live in South Korean on my own! I see nothing wrong with it! I can choose to go with someone or not! Just got to be smart where I go.

I've been to Florida a few times, but met with friends there, along with relatives at some point.
I have visited China, 4 times from 2008 to 2010. Five different cities in the same vacation sometimes (Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Xi'an and Hangzhou)....lots of fun, which is what it is all about. I forget about politics, and just remember there are wonderful people there who take good care of you (as they are able), and are thrilled to sit and talk with you. Plus, you have great food there too...if you go with money and leave hungry, that's YOUR fault.
The nice thing about traveling by yourself is you can do whatever you want. If you want to eat in Xi'an's Muslim Quarter, you can, and you don't have to listen to someone whine about "I wanna go to McDonald's!" You can get up and get going when you need to, and don't need to worry about someone dragging along, taking their time, etc., when you have a plane to catch, bus to get tickets for, etc. You want to go shopping at the A.P. Market in Shanghai, you can. It is just easier. Yes, I know people who seem like they couldn't get out to the way of an oncoming glacier.
Okay, being a single guy with an attraction to Chinese women...well, you know. 'nuff said.
I say go for it.

I really enjoy traveling as well as driving - to get somewhere and to explore. Most the times it is alone. Mainly been up and down the Eastern US, have also been to Texas and Hawaii. Also enjoy traveling/exploring with the Jeep when the pavement ends. Camping is fun too, in the mountains, water front in the Florida Keys, anywhere really. I've owned a house for 4yrs now and tired of being stuck in one place. There's a 38' motorhome parked in the driveway waiting for me to sell most everything else, tow the Jeep and travel the whole country. If I had to pick something to do before I die, that would be it.

Going on vacation by your lonesome can really bite, but you do get to know a lot of cool people. I rather go with someone I know, so that you can build a better bond. It's is always fun in pairs.

I agree it's fun in pairs and you can build a bond. But going alone also presents it's own neat attributes. My first actual ''vacation'' alone, other than a day or weekend trip was my initial trip to Ft. Lauderdale and Key West, FL. 6 days of no plans, nothing to do other than occupy my time with whatever. To explore a new area, meet new people and try new things (rented a jet ski and went parasailing) all in such a different environment was quite refreshing, almost looking at life from the outside in.

Traveled too much by myself. Don't care for it.
For people close to Phila.,, Harrisburg, Pa. I get info on overnite trips to Harrah's Casino in A.C.
No charge for a luxury bus and room. Was in Nassau, Bahamas in Nov. with a few people. 4 nites, flying out of Allentown, Pa. Single $ 450. Now booked to Tunica, Miss. in Feb. $ 349 ,4 nites, flying out of Allentown, Pa. ( 45 miles north of Philly ).

I have only travelled alone domestically. Vegas and Georgia. I don't mind. I'd travel alone internationally too and am making plans to save every year to go on a trip, now that my kids are "adults". would love to go with the right person. No one atm. Planning a trip to china with my daughter to celebrate her graduation.

Just spent 2 1/2 months traveling Europe by myself... Even got on a gondola in Venice by myself in that beautiful place of romance....., got robbed in Paris subway the day I got there, but that still didnt stop me from staying two weeks in Paris... Gotta stay waiting for my temporary passport anyway, LOL. Then I did southern France, the Antibes, Monaco and Switzerland..... Fantastic time

Yes, went to Iceland alone. I loved it because I am a people person. Don't you feel you got to live every opportunity to the fullest because tomorrow is never promised? When time and money allow I am going to go explore some more. One item that helped was buying a camera extension rod so I could take a picture of myself at the sites. I bought the Quick Pod brand but I am sure there must be a variety of them for sale at electronic stores.

you bet. I spent 3 months in Alexandria Egypt. I traveled all over Egypt during those 3 months with my base in Alexandria. I didn't meet a person that spoke english for the first 3 weeks. I didn't speak any arabic at the time. Used a lot of hand signals. Its not americanized in that city of 18 million. That's the way I like to travel. Engulf myself in their society and see what its really about. I do one thing for my safety and hire the same driver for my in country travel. He didn't speak english either. You learn to make it work. Also spent 3 months in Lima Peru. And traveled all over that country. That was my favorite trip. Great country, great people, and great food. If I could have found work their I would have stayed. Next trip is to Russia. Trying to hit every continent before I turn 50. Got three left. Antartica, Asia, and Australia. Gonna do Asia from Russia.

I don't like it. I think that it would be more enjoyable with a friend.

When I was 18 to 22 I kind of went on a working vacation around the country.. I lived or stayed in a few different places.. Ohio, Michigan,Kentucky,Tennessee,North Carolina,South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, Texas,Louisiana,Indiana, and West Virginia.
Just didn't want to be someone who said "I wish I had done something when I was younger". I had a blast. Drank to much had way to much fun and as most of always do I came home.

In answer to your question, Op:
Yes! I did. For 2 weeks in the late autumn I made arrangements, packed up my suitcases, drove myself to long-term parking at the airport, and boarded a non-stop flight to Miami FL.
Roamed at will, sipped Matgurita's at my leisure, collected shells along the beach -- saw sights I never had seen before and enjoyed the new-found friendships of many peoples of varying cultures.
It was, probably, the best vacation I ever took in my life (and I have been on many) because it was all for, and about, me.

Yes, went up to Canada by myself. One night I would sleep in my van and the next I would check into a motel to get a shower and a good night sleep.
Drove all the way around Lake Superior after catching the air show at Oshkosh. Also drove all the way up the north side of the St Lawrence Seaway. Drove all around Quebec, from Val d Or to Baie Comeau.
Flew up to Iqaluit and Resolute Bay in Nunavut. Spent a week on Somerset Island in Nunavut.
All by myself. Except there were other people on Somerset Island staying at the same camp.

I love to travel by myself. No worries about who wants what or where to go or how long. Its the total freedom
Also there's no one to tell on you as to what you did. I lived in japan for 6 yes, the Philippines for 4 yes and I traveled all of the pacific, and southeast Asia and I did italone. I took a trip last year to Taipei, Taiwan, Seoul, Korea, bangkok and phuket Thailand and loved every minute. And by the way fly Korean air. Its one of the best airlines. Exceptional.

Yup, I went to Costa Rica by myself for almost three weeks NOV 2011. Did a lot of research about countries that would be safe for a woman travelling alone. (including checking out the state dept travel warnings) researched and reserved various places I would be staying, and met some nice people. also single and travelling alone, albeit not too many. Did what I want when I wanted and it was invigorating and made me feel confident and interested in my surroundings. But I would suggest checking and chatting with the locals that work at your hotel to see where is considered places you do not want to venture to alone. Although I rented my own car I did go on a couple of private tours with a couple of gals I met and we split the costs for the driver.

Yes, but if I had a choice it would be to always have a loved one with me. Most of the time if I do travel with somebody I end up paying the tab .......so....since im not rich...I travel alone. 
That is usually the case, and it gets so expensive
