I've been here in Winnipeg for a couple of years.
The first couple of years I came to get married and was goo-goo gaa-gaa so I never really noticed the weather.
The next couple of years I suspect it was colder than perhaps the thermometer reading was because I didn't expect to be single again.
This year has been the 'balancing out' year for me but I'm kind of like a guy who has come off a Coke spree followed by a drinking binge - getting ready to walk on the balance beam but not sure which of the four sides I'm supposed to put my feet on.
As I try to get my bearings back I was wondering which side is up and how long this refrigerator lasts. (I came from Southern Alberta with the Chinook winds and minus 10 C is considered quite cold. Minus 20 C only lasts a week at a time and the winds often bring the temperatures up above the freezing mark (once a month).
So what is the 'normal' time for spring thaw and the new life to regenerate?

I like dandelions and am hoping for an early spring. It is cold here in California, too. It starts getting a little warmer here around March, sometimes.

I wish we had your Red river diversion here in Fargo..I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be up to my elbows in sandbags come March again.

So will we. The amount of snow that has already fallen is pretty significant and we are not through winter yet, nor are we counting in the spring rains.
YIKES!!! I suspect there will be lots of flooding even with the diversions.
