With the recent cold spell and generally miserable climate, hot/muggy in summer, cold/snowy winters, I was wondering why anyone would want to live here.
Born and raised in SD myself, came back to help out my mother. Now she's gone and I can't really think of any reason not to move to a better climate again.
The advantages I see of living here (Sioux Falls)
Low unemployment
Low crime rate
Low taxes
Low cost of living compared to a lot of places
People here are more "real" than on either coast
Now if the Chamber of Commerce could do something about the climate

I was raised in So. Cal., LA to be exact. Got married to a born and raised NJ guy. Followed him to NJ where we lived for 15 years and then moved where I am now.
Cons:
Winter weather - I still haven't gotten used to living in a winter clime and at this point I doubt I ever will.
Employment opportunities for professionals are not local.
Cultural experiences are not local.
Pros:
Its peaceful and low stress compared to Calif., NJ or NY.
Its beautiful living here in the mountains.
People are for the most part still polite, in person and on the roads.
Frankly though, if it weren't for the fact that I have young children, I would definitely flee to a warmer winter climate once the divorce is final..........oh well, some day.
Seems I've posted in the South Dakota forum...........yikes!
