Wow, I've been around for awhile, so I've had a few careers.....really liked MOST of them.
Started out working for a bank....did your monthly statements...BOR-ing.
Then Legal Stenography - first, as an employee, then ran my own Legal Secretarial Service ...
A few years for Full-time motherhood, then back to work.... truck and Maxi-Taxi driver in Westport, Ct....home of the rich and famous....never saw many of them, but felt safe on the job...worked many nights. Also a school bus and charter bus driver. This actually was the beginning of my travel career.
Worked summers in a childrens' camp to give my children the camp experience...First, office, then chef and truck driver.
Travel School and many years a travel agent, Tour Operator...had a Singles Travel Program and ran the Singles Department of the Travel Agency....
As a member of Parents Without Partners, I began my bus driving, including regional conventions and ski trips and tours. Also volunteered to "type" our chapter newsletter and then became Editor and won international awards, which led to giving workshops on how to Create a Newsletter. This led to writing and publishing articles on Singles and singles travel.
My longest career...and, probably the most exciting one, was my 39 years as an International Tour Director, which, until 911, allowed me the most fantastic opportunity for world travel and exploration and the privilege of showing others places of wonder we have in this world. For 17 of these years I lived part time in Hawaii.
Now, I'm retired...Hah I still take some groups out, do alterations...it's amazing how many people don't know how to shorten a pair of pants.....I teach knitting, crocheting and hand embroidery. And, once-in-awhile, do product demonstrations in local supermarkets.
Wow, it's amazing what one can accomplish in 71 years.....I'm exhausted just reading about it....but, I can say that I have pretty much enjoyed all my work.....and, that's kinda rare these days.
May I wish all of you the enjoyment I've had...and am still having in my "careers".
