Well from my opinion its all got to do with the Beauty and the Beast theory. Basically what it means is that girls want to go for the "bad boy" and change him into the nice/caring/Prince Charming type of guy, the problem is; it doesn't work and the girls always get their heart broken. They don't however stay away from the "bad boy" because they still want him to change deep down and it always ends in heart break.
This leads to the genuine nice/caring/Prince Charming guys to get their hearts broken because they are waiting around for the girl who happens to be with the "bad boy". The problem with all of this is the girl won't realize her mistake until it is too late when the genuine nice/caring/Prince Charming guy has been turned evil/bitter when it comes to love/dating. It also leads to the women that know how to treat a nice/caring/Prince Charming guy right, to give up on love because they know better then to be with a "bad boy" and they know that they want a nice/caring/Prince Charming. Problem for those girls is that the nice guys that are left are already taken, OR they have been turned bitter against love/dating because they have been waiting around on the girl with the "bad boy".
This is why I personally believe that girls go for the bad boy.
*For the record it ticks me off because I'm apart of the second group of girls who don't want a bad boy, and want a nice guy. And those other girls ruin it for all of us who know how to treat a guy.*

Girls who go for bad guys, who are looking for a challenge, are stupid. There are enough challenges in life, your partner/teammate shouldn't be one right from the beginning.
I notice that the most mature girls, who go through some sort of s***, are less inclined to get a guy who will put them through s***.
