I actually felt more alone when I was married! I do miss someone to snuggle with at night. I also get lonely when I see happy couples coming to SINGLES events.

i have been devorced for over 2 years now. I would imagaine its almost the same feelings of being lonely as when you lose your mate to death.... My sister lost her husband a year ago and me and her have grown alot closer because we both feel lonely a it's a comfort to know that really we aren't alone. I feel alone most all the time in public, at home, social events ect....... But i am learning to cope ........ Sisters are a plus sometimes ...........

I feel alone the most when I lay down every night in my empty king sized bed. I am a corner sleeper so there is a vast amount of empty space from the middle of the bed to the other side. Holidays and family get-togethers are the worse when everyone else has their significant others. Don't get me wrong. I may feel alone, but I have no regrets in regards to my divorce. I am just tired of meeting "Mr. Right Now".

When my Teen goes for wkend visits with her dad..house to quiet.Money is tight so cant afford to go out much.At night sleepin alone is tough,still reach out to hold his hand,but realise he isnt there. I think I feel alone the most is when I eat by myself. I love to cook, but not for myself. When I start feeling alone, I either go for a ride or do something to get my mind off of it.

Sorry for your loss dude. I feel lonely all the time, there is no certain day or situation for me. My wife didn't die, she walked out on me. But it feels the same, that emptiness after 14yrs of marriage. I watch a movie and it reminds me of her, I cook and it reminds me of her. She left me on Father's day this year and to this day I think about her and feel lonely. I shouldn't but I do.

I can be surrounded by kids and dogs but still feel lonely at times. When you've slept next to the same person for 30 years and he's abruptly gone you have a huge adjustment to make.
I talk to God in prayer when I feel alone. Or I text a friend or family member. Or I take the dogs for a walk and talk to neighbors. God buoys me up at such times.

The other day I was at the grocery store and noticed all the meat was wrapped for 2 or more people. I don't have a very big freezer and I don't care to have the same meal for several nights in a row. It would be nice to have someone to share my dinner with.

It hit me hard today when I found two female friends on facebook that I used to hang out with back in the day. ( I had a crush on both of them )
They accepted my friend requests, and we got a chance to catch up. It was real nice....however they both are married now with familys. Looking at their happy family vaction pics kind of got me down. I mean I'm happy for them, but it's just another reminder that I'm still single....

About the last couple years of marriage as we drifted apart were actually some times I felt alone. Now that I am single I don't really feel lonely. I for one have always done well in a relationship or single. I have always fared well as an individual. I don't "need" someone in my life, but at the same token wouldn't mind someone in my life. I do like the fact that whatever decisions I make in life or things I do are my decisions only, that I don't need to check with someone if something is ok.

I feel most alone when I think about the things I've lost. My husband was very possessive and I really learned what was important in life while I was with him. I lost a lot of "friends" and was slowly losing my family because I was not allowed to talk to anyone except for him. Now, I come home from work and the first person I talk to is my mom. She & I have been so close for so long and I hated the fact that we barely spoke while I was married. The kicker is I only lived 5 minutes away from her.
I also start to feel very lonely when I think of something I like to do, such as go to a movie or out to eat, then I realize that if I go I have to go by myself. Sometimes that's ok cause I want the time to think and reflect on my week, but then I get to the theater or where ever and everyone is cuddling and kissing and instantly I lonely and wish I at least had a hand to hold. You don't realize how much of a confidence booster it is to have someone by your side until it is gone. On the flipside, I would not change my decision about my divorce in a million years. I'm 10 times happier than I ever was with my ex.

I don't feel alone.
Use too, but now in my alone times, I stop and think what all I have accomplished and feel a wonderful peace with who I am today.

Ya know, reading through this, and today being 1 year to the day that my move out began (I could use a hug) I've come to realize (remember, actually) that no matter the situation now, It's not as lonely as Thanksgiving 2009 when her and the kids never said one word to me beyond "pass the salt." Nothing now is as lonely as sitting on the sofa past midnight waiting for her to come home from a date. Nothing now is as lonely as sitting with her in the same room watching a movie. Nothing now is as lonely as bedtime when she would go to a seperate room.
