I took care of the squash bugs for now but having problems with grasshoppers.
They are everywhere of all colors, shapes, and sizes with an appetite to eat my
flowers and plants now. Any suggestions? Going to try the vanilla flavoring and
water this afternoon to see if that helps. Hope something else doesn't like the
flavor and feast off it.

I'm not sure about grasshoppers about every 7 -10 yrs, we get swarms of 'army worms' (green catipillars) and is such a ugly sight we hose em off the house

If you can, buy a couple of chickens. They are great "Grasshopper gitters".

You need to attrack birds to your yard. Put out some birdbaths.
Keep the water fresh to keep mosquitos out.
You can also try some row covers to protect you plants.
If you want to spary an insecticide you can try NEEM oil

Not sure what lobbers are..
can't get chickens because I have a couple of cats and too many stray hungry
dogs around...thought about ginny's (spelling?) heard they are great creepy
crawly eaters..
I have sprayed liquid seven but doesn't seem to bother them that much...
Eating my flowers more than anything...thank goodness not my garden...they stripped
one of my mint plants...

Guineas I raise them and they are great bug eaters but if dogs are around won't last very long!

Yeah, that is what I am afraid of. I know someone that has a couple but their dogs
bother them and not sure why the neighbors dogs don't. Maybe because of their dogs keep
the others run off.

Cats eat grasshoppers. Adopt a few or borrow some. Bug Geta snail, slug bait works too. Then there is Bug Juice method.Catch a few, blend in blender add water, strain and spray ur yard. Bugs emit an enzyme on death that is transferred via the bug juice to fend off others.
