Does anyone have trouble with sometimes making exceptions for someone with a dealbreaker and regretting it later?
OH yes I have I think we all have at some point. The thing I have learned from doing that is I have to take responsiblity no one else. I also find it takes me longer to bounce back. I really take time to examine the reason why I felt so compelled to do it. Sometimes I come up with because it was fun dammit... so live and learn.

Great answer, sitkawench. At least you take responsibility and don't blame others!
I get really tired reading posts of people b*tchin' about continually winding up with losers and wonder when, if ever, they will examine themselves and the decisions they make, and then take ownership which is the first step to change.
Taking ownership gives us the hope and opportunity to change things rather than acceptance of shitty situations we don't like. We see that we can change the situations that come our way by setting higher standards for ourselves and others.
Is that really so difficult a concept to embrace?

I am looking for "normal", so that means no drunks, druggies, perverts, abusers, controllers, complainers/whiners, men who don't like kids or animals, men who have serious mental issues, men who dwell on the negative, smokers (sorry guys), tobacco users (yuck), inconsiderate men,and couch potatoes. All things in moderation, you know?
I am not helpless to my feelings, just know what I want and refuse to settle. I settled in my marriage for 7 years knowing I deserved better, so I will not compromise because that means I would be compromising myself not compromising for him.

DEAL BREAKERS:
Control Freaks
Mainpulators of any nature
Ignorance of any type - displayed in any manner
Boundaries?
Locks
concrete walls
and...heavily armed
Am I helpless to my feelings?
Only with one individual and only ONE, and with that one - yes, I am entirely helpless. Hopeless. Absurdly and unconditionally whacko. I do think it's progress of some sort that I can now admit this..

Great topic!]
Dishonesty, false representation,be it through the person or their looks..
As in deceptive pics or fake pics..
Everyone is entitled to their preferences lookwise imo..
Untrustworthy,to talk to others,as in show interest in others during any stage of the relationship..
At this stage in life,I know I deserve better.. No reason to ever have to "settle"..
Hypocrites, sets a standard but rarely self imposes..
Lies..excessive flirts ,attention seekers...Conceit..
