That we do regardless...what we want are ideas about spreading Atheism...to inform people.

The Tulsa, Ok. group got 10 billboards along some major arteries in town. Put pictures of some Atheist families to show they didn't have hornes or tails. Almost needed flack jackets. Caused a bit of a stir.

Something similar happened in NJ with the billboard during Christmas time. Big screams......

Hold a forum like a debate. That might invite a hostile enviorment if not done right.
Put up a booth at a farmer's market or community fair. Wonder if there are any non religious tchotchkes to give away at those things?

It does not require a lot of physical labor. the hardest part is logistics it needs an organized leader first and formost then a couple of spokespersons .
it might just get the old farts blood pumping.
planning ahead is crucial.

I saw some people standing on a street corner with a bull horn spreading christianity...to inform people.
No offense but it sounds like you're turning being atheist into a form of religion the way you said that.

Maybe the wrong choice of words....We feel the only way to erase the negative impact of religion -all- is information.

I hear ya. I personally like to debunk the ideas that athiests are without morals, self respect and common decency even though there are tons of christians without the slightest bit of common sense or decency.

Well, those are priorities for my group....but the only tool the Christians have is their lies about our morals..Across the street from my home lives a Christian lady whose 13 y/o daughters is out until the wee hours of the night

that is a good idea. i've been thinking about this every since duccy posted it and i can't come up with anything any better.
the atheist group in austin texas feed the homeless, which i think is GREAT!
but could get rather expensive i would think.

I am properly chastised but in my defence I am the sole slave to 22 acres of not so prime Arkansas farm land including livestock.
and thats not counting doing a kitchen remodeling for a lady who can;t make up her mind how she wants it to be done.

You will be calling for murder...I have a sign "I am an Atheist" that sometimes I place on the rear window of my car....believe me when I tell you that few drivers have insulted me -big words- each time I placed the sign up.
BTW, A guy who was e/mailing death threats to Atheists in Canada has been caught by the police.

The best out-reach starts with identifying the target audience. I tend to believe that your best bet are the non-believing Christians who stick to the church out of social pressure. I believe there is a threshold that, when met, will cause the church to completely collapse. In a similar way that smoking became no longer cool once most people stopped smoking, religion will lose its appeal as well and drive massive defections once awareness of the growing numbers of atheists become apparent.
A simple ad campaign that raises awareness to the growing number of non-children-eating atheists is a great start. This is a war of information. Remember, Christians are not the enemy, they are the victims. If churches rally against your ad campaign, that can translate into free publicity for you if you handle it properly.
