I looked through the entire forum for this topic and didn't see one.
Would anyone care to compare notes?
Would anyone care to be a buddy and make themselves available to talk someone through one sometime?

It helps to have a network of 'friends' to talk to when it starts.
I have one, about 50 miles from me that also suffers from them. He runs a tattoo shop4 1/2 days a week, keeps his pc there, only has a pay as you go cell phone. We message each other constantly unless he has a client, which is often this time of year.
I noticed there were other threads dealing with other issues and people were being pretty supportive of each other, so I thought....
I have actually had a couple of wonderful DH guys email and call me on the phone and keep me preoccupied when I was having some rough times. So, I know we could do it, and I would like to be here for others, as well.

Mine went into remission for the most part about 15 years ago, but started back in about 3 years ago, all centered around a disfunctional relationship. If I could resolve that part of my life, I would be in total control of myself and not have them anymore.
Feel free to email me anytime you want or need to talk to someone.

julymorning...Many here have high/mild anxiety and panic attacks.

I take buspar everyday...high aniexty..4 of those tiny white pills. That med helps me a lot!
If something happens later in the day or evening and I get that feeling that its coming on..I just take another one.

Anxiety is weird how it effects you at least for me its that way. Its like getting all excited/nervous/sick-ill feeling over nothing and its such a bad feeling.Sometimes it effects me so much as it puts me in a state of....I dunno....just a different place and I get in babble mode when trying to talk. Also my hand with tap or bang the table. When that happens it freaks me out and I need a smoke right away and something to drink! I dunno if that is part of anxiety or not..does that happen to anyone else? Or is that yet another problem due to head injury? That doesn't happen a lot boy when it does scares the sh*t out of me!

The kind that I have now start out like you describe, feeling excited, dread, stomach tightens into knots, I literally freeze up and can't get myself to do anypart of a daily routine. I begin to clench my teeth. If I wake up in one, I can calm myself out of it, with time. If it starts because of a specific situation it starts escalating. I can barely breathe, my heart races, I have to take some sort of action to resolve the situation or pace like a tiger, unable to focus, eat, and I feel sick to my stomach.
I tried counseling and hypnotherapy. The only thing that works is if I am able to take some kind of control action, like I said.
Boy, if that little white pill would work for me, I want a bunch of it.
I hated the panic attack feelings so much I was about ready to have all my memories of some people in my life erased completely.
Mine all stemed originally from feeling like I had no control over events in my life that were orchestrated by other people. I am just trying where possible to get that control back.

Agoraphobia : an abnormal fear of being in crowds, public places, or open areas, sometimes accompanied by anxiety attacks.

Happens to me too..not everytime though

I have had to change somethings in my life and justtake it easy..stay nice and calm and relaxed. I dont have any other choice. Look out when I'm stressing though or upset OMG I'm 100 miles a minute and going like the engerizer bunny. Sometimes I just have to exscape from it all and go get some fresh air and recoup. As long as I am taking it easy and being relaxed..Mellow mood. I like that mellow mood so much better

Medication Written by Pharmacists Reviewed by Doctors

Pharmacy Author: Emmanuel Saltiel, PharmD, FASHP, FCCP
Pharmacy and Medical Editor: Jay W. Marks, MD
GENERIC NAME: buspirone
BRAND NAME: Buspar

DRUG CLASS AND MECHANISM: Buspirone is an antianxiety medication that works by stimulating serotonin type 1A receptors on nerves thereby altering the chemical messages that nerves transmit to each other. Unlike the most commonly prescribed antianxiety medications of the benzodiazepine class (for example, diazepam [Valium], lorazepam [Ativan], alprazolam [Xanax]; clonazepam [Klonopin]), buspirone does not cause sedation.

PRESCRIPTION: yes

GENERIC AVAILABLE: yes

PREPARATIONS: Tablets (white), ovoid-rectangular in shape: 5mg and 10mg.

STORAGE: Tablets should be kept at room temperature, less than 30°C (86°F).

PRESCRIBED FOR: Buspirone is indicated for the management of anxiety disorders or for the short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety. Buspirone is especially effective in persons with generalized anxiety of a limited or moderate degree. It is not very effective in persons with severe anxiety, panic disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorders.

DOSING: Unlike antianxiety medications of the benzodiazepine class which are effective after a single dose, effectiveness with buspirone may require two or more weeks of treatment. Buspirone usually is given as three doses daily. The dose may be increased every several days until an effective dose is found. Although food increases the amount of buspirone that is absorbed, the importance of this effect is not clear. Buspirone probably should be taken, therefore, either with or without food on a consistent basis.

Can you remember back when you experience the first one?
I need to go look up the word that means 'fear of tornados', because that is how mine first manifested itself. That was 25 years ago.

Funny you should say fear of tornadoes I live in Nebraska... Not fun..soon they will be about!

No bad side effect at all from Buspar. Worked right away for me. First time I took(last June) I took 2 not one as so ordered ..shhh.. and about 30-45 mins later I felt the calm come over me.Ya know with Buspar you work up to the level thats right for you.

I guess I have for a very long time have fear in a car.. with traffic its worst. After the car accident OMG bad bad bad... So I would say thats where it all stems from the first fear of the panic.

I just about drove everyone around me crazy with me tornado obsesssion.
I figured out why it started on my own, eventually. It all came about because I felt the loss of control over my life, my husband had ruined me financially and left me stranded with two toddlers, one of which wasn't even mine.
So....Tornados/thunderstorms are powerful, we can't control them. They too have the capability to destroy everything you have.
I had no safe place to go to protect us.

I got over the tornado obsession after awhile, but when I came down with the Fibromyalgia in 84 they panic attacks came back, though at the time they were so severe I thought I was having a heart attack and went running to the ER often. Oddly, I developed reactive high blood pressure at the same time, and eventually was able to get the panic attacks under control by eliminating as much salt and caffiene from my diet as I could. Blood pressure meds got it all under control, and then loosing about 80 lbs fixed the blood pressure thing too.
The current panic/anxiety attacks came back for pretty much the same reason they did 25 years ago. Loss of control over some areas of my life.
I can blame myself for not taking that control back, permanently, but why on earth would I wake up in the middle of one?

I have a theory about that. I think my body has gotten addicted to the adrenaline rush and instigates the attacks on its own. Thats why I think the pill you take would work for me, because it's like methadone to a heroin addict.

Juli, (notice how close that is to July?) Good morning to you too!
Yes, I shouldn't complain too much about the anxiety attacks. I'm wone of those few people who CAN'T eat when stressed out.
The complications of Fibromyalgia put the weight on, but 8 years ago during a major stress event it started coming off.
I have continued taking advantage of that jump start, but last fall a trip to a hypnotist almost eliminated that quirk of mine.
I went to him because he said he could eliminate the anxiety attacks. He didn't but I came away from the place ravenous. I just recently figured out why my appetite and weight has been creaping back up again. I've been able to nip the trend in the bud this past week or so.
Have a great weekend, girl!

This may sound weird but I only had this over a three month period off and on aways
back. It took me awhile to figure out what it was.I was staying with my half sister
and being around women set it off mostly.Believe it or not the public water caused
this effect on me.Even to the point of exstreme tiredness, excess concentrated urine,
gas from front and back lol, extreme hunger, hyperventilating, heart racing, nausia,
and one weird effect lets just call it a exstremely hightened labido. So people
with symptoms of this topic I urge u to stay away from Houma La.I joke you not this
actually happened to me.I wouldnt have minded the labido boost but as for the rest
of that stuff, lets just say I was glad to get outa there.Beware of the water in that
area!!!!!!!!!!!
