I'm a son and my father is the most important person in my life, along with my mother.

Frankly I wouldn't know what to say to either of them.

Myself, I have daughters.
I'm at a point in my life where they've meant the world to me since they were born. Losing any of them would crush me to pieces.

However I know how much I mean to them and if I ever died, it would crush them to pieces too.

It's wonderful your father lived a long life. And seeing in your own words, he spent the time with you that you valued so dearly, is inspirational.

My heart goes out to you.
I tip my hat to you for passing along such a promising amount of courage and such an inspirational level of love that Dad's like me can consume for years and years as we age.

Thank you and God Bless.

A Father's love, and the Love of a Man are two distinctly different species of Love. As a shovel cannot become a broom, a Love of one unique kind cannot become another.

As I wrote in a prior thread:

"It is the original intent of Nature that woman enjoys a loving, supportive relationship from and with her father. Therefore, she naturally desires to enjoy the same fulfilling happiness with a man for the rest of her life.

However, if a woman did not receive from her Father the supportive, loving relationship Nature intended, she will be looking for it the rest of her life and never find it.

Such a tragic event is analogous to a sapling having been struck by lightening. It lost limbs, was severely damaged yet survived. No matter long it lives thereafter, it will never be whole again."

Like you, I was with my Mother until the very last moment. In that experience I found some Peace.

My Father died of a massive heart attack in a place very far away. Two years before he passed, I treated both my parents to a wonderful dinner. There and then, well before the time of each passing, I remembered, recognized and thanked them for each of the hundreds of personal sacrifices they made on my behalf. In doing that, My Spirit achieved Eternal Peace.

May you know the same....

Dave

When my Dad went home in 1990, I boarded a plane to AZ where he had retired to. As I went up the ramp, The Lord told me, "He Lives!" Yesterday, for the 1st time in years, I visited Dad's grave. On the granite stone was the "He Lives" reminder.

About 6 months after Dad departed, I was invited to heaven. Walking with Jesus (whom I didn't see face to face)we approached a man planting a beautiful bush. The man didn't look at me but was delighted. He looked past me, up at The Lord, and I finally recognized my Dad. I didn't, at first, because Dad was younger than I had ever known him to be in my Earthly lifetime.

God grant you HIS peace and joy. To be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord.

I am so blessed that my dad is still with me. I come from a small tight knit family. My brother and myself call my Dad EVERYDAY to chat with him and tell him that we love him and apprecieate everything he did for us during our poor but loving upbringing. It is a huge point of pride for him that his friends envy our relationship. I love my Dad more than any soul....ever.

I lost my dad 3 weeks ago on top of a divorce and all. If I could talk to him I would apologize to him for letting him down. Couldn't even keep a marriage together and when he died in the car accident, I know he was worried about me before it happened.
