Pantera is classic and one of the best and for sure one of my favorites! System of a Down, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage are just a few more that are badass. Anyone heard of Duece? I heard a song they do called America, on xm octane but cant find there music anywhere but i havent really looked that hard for it yet

Most bands mentioned in this thread would not be classified as metal. For trash mental which is only type I am interested in you can not beat Megadeath. Metallica were sell outs but their Indie music in the beginning was unbeatable.

Maiden, Cooper, Ozzy- Originals. All these people saying what is and is not metal I'm curious as to why you say so. I personally dont care what genre it is. I like what I like. But most of these bands mentioned us fogies aint even heard of. Before metal splintered into a million different kinds metal was just metal. Metal music is like saying an object is made from metal, which metal? Is tin any less of a metal than copper? No, but its properties are different. Not better, just different.

Don't know if my taste in music will be your cup of tea (it's not the fake radio-branded metal), but if you can enjoy stuff that doesn't still sound pop-y, some of my favorites are Venom, Death, Opeth, Crimson Glory, Kreator, Evile, Testament, Nevermore, Metal Church, Iron Maiden, Accept, Onslaught, Abandoned, Megadeth, Finntroll, Korpiklaani, Gwar.. etc.. I'd go on but I don't want to write a mile-long list for nothing Lol.

And just because a band sells out stadiums doesn't make them metal either. Not a single band you listed is metal. I like Type O Negative, Deftones and some of Tool but they're not metal. ;o

IRON MAIDEN......is my favorite always has been..older brothers had me singing their shit when I was 3. Seen them 10 times...got on stage with Bruce once for 5 seconds before security ripped me off.
