pantera followed metal after there glam rock gimmick was falling, metallica left their mark. pantera just doesnt have what the early metallica had.... they were unstoppable

Angra with Andre Matos/his solo stuff or anything with him in it and X-Japan both tied for first place. Also love Within Temptation, Galneryus (with Sho), Aquaria, Epica, Rhapsody (of Fire...), Circus Maximus, Into Eternity, Lightmare etc.. Some you may not have heard of are The Last Successor, Fu Xi, and Versailles.

I would say Lamb of God. Randy Blythe can send chills down your spine or make you feel like ripping the world apart. Mark Morton is amazing on guitar,and Chris Adler is one of the greatest drummers to date. If you haven't heard the new album that was released Tuesday, do so. Its one of the best to date.
