I'll tell you why it matters because it ultimately cost me my marriage. It wasn't how I looked at all. It was that I could not do the physical activities my husband so desparately wanted to do. At least he says that is what is was> Now that I'm smaller, I want smaller men for the same reason. I need the exercise to maintain my smaller size and it will be easier with a man who isn't a couch potato.
Why do I want to be smaller? Well, I'm gonna find me a hot guy and live to be very old.

People shouldn't judge but they do so I went through a lot of changes. In 3rd grade I was 190 lbs and about 5 ft tall. Then I went anorexic and went down to 110 and in 5th grade I was 6 ft tall now I'm 6'2" and 190 mostly muscle Mostly all I can say is don't ever go drastic when it comes to dieting because it won't help. Just eat 10 small meals a day about the size of your palm anout an inch or inch and a half tall and hit all of your food groups and you should be fine you can look at my pics and tell that I am pretty fit but there was a lot of time when I was 18 trying to lose stubborn fat and I realized it is great to have friends who are fit who don't judge who you are by the outside

Weight does matter. Its ugly, unhealthy, and debilitating. Fat people smell worse too. Also they sweat a lot. Do you not enjoy sex? If you are even mildly overweight it does effect your performance, stamina and drive for sex. The government spends more on obesity than they do on oil and the war. You fat motherf**kers are bankrupting my country. Plus if for no other reason people that actually give a shit about themselves and are in shape are sick of looking at a bunch of useless pigs all the time. Get a grip lard asses.

I am a BBW but in general I only date thin/average sized men. I prefer men thinner than me. I am fine with big men as long as their weight is not more than me. I know it makes me feel bad like a hypocrite for I do not want a man to judge me on my weight but we has human beings can not help what we are and are not attracted too

Speek for yourself. I am fat and I have an extremely high sex drive. I can get it on all day long and as far as meeting men that smell bad I have met plenty of "thin" men that do not seem to know how to shower. Being fat does not mean we do not know how to be hygienic. There is a few circumstances where weight does affect sexual performance but I think its mainly with men. My exhusband had a very small penis and with his big size it kinda got lost in his fat and thus there was no sex life as far as women goes all we need to do is lie there LOL Sex is important but there is more to a relationship then ones ability to stick it to her
Some big people are surprisingly active and healthy. The person that you view as fat may have actually already lost a lot of weight and are changing themselves. Maybe talk to the person, see how their weight loss journey is going. I have lost ton of weight. I lost 20 pounds so far this year and over the past decade maybe around 100 pounds lost and i am quite proud of myself. it frustrates me to know end when someone that does not know my weight loss jouney judges me as if i am not even trying

Weight does not matter it depends on an individuals preference. I am big and there are lots of men that dig me big time. Some men like big women some don't. There is no need to be an ass. I prefer thin men even though I am a big person but i try to give everyone a fair chance before voting them out. many "big" men carry their weight well and are hansome, some don't.

I had more people interested in getting to know me 100 pounds ago than I do now....because my looks weren't enough. I was pretty, but morbidly obese.
I started losing weight, and now I'm a size 18/20 standing 5'8-9." So, I'm not bad looking, but I'm still trying to lose more weight.
Ever since losing weight, my standards have dramatically changed. I'll admit I'm shallow these days. When I run across exes, they have "OMG" moments. Granted, I was a size 30/32. So, it's a complete and utter shock.
You're right, weight shouldn't matter, but it does.
We're all visual creatures. If you make an effort to lose the weight, trust me, your life will change.

It most certainly matters especially on a dating site. Being overweight drastically reduces the number of people who find you attractive. But most importantly when you look in the mirror every day you yourself know that you aren't all that you can be. If weight didn't matter my inbox would be filled with propositions from beautiful women. Now there are people who go for the teddy bear look in guys but those are few and far between on places such as this.

I don't think that it's about weight so much as it's about how you feel about yourself. Most people overweight are unhappy about it and don't really have the confidence it takes for people to be interested in them. I was 300 pounds 3 years back and I was far from confident, no way would anyone have gone for me. Now I'm 190, I work out, I box, I feel great! I'm about as confident as you can get and I go for what I want. If I could've been like that at 300 then cool, and if you can truly be confident and happy while being overweight, respect.

Weight dont matter to me... Im slighty overweight ok about 30 pounds overweight.. but i don't judge a person based on how much they weight even if i was in better shape... You should get to know the person. and work out with them if u want... it shouldn't all be about weight and looks. thats superficial.

Weight doesn't matter but I think what does matter is that people can't help what they are physically attracted to. Sexual attraction is deeply imbedded in our minds and we know what we like. It's only human nature, everyone has different taste.
Some people on the opposite end of the spectrum don't like women that are too skinny
they are simply not attracted to them.
I myself like a woman with an average waste line and junk in the trunk

Who ever said, "I need my person to be stick thin?" You put it in quotation marks so I'm wondering who said it, I certainly never did. I've said before that you can't choose your potential but you can choose what to do with that potential. You may never have the ability to look like a super model even with serious dedication and hard work in the gym. However, those circumstances are few and far between. The genetic sad story only works for about 5% of the population. Most people who are overweight use that other 5% as an excuse because they are too LAZY to figure out their forumula. Everyone has different genetics so the forumula for success is not the same for everyone, however, there is still a formula for success for everyone, except maybe the genetically obese 5% of the population.
I fully agree with you Merk and I agree because I used to be a part of that 5% and I did use that as an excuse but unlike some people I decided to change my lifestyle by joining the navy. When I went to a recruiter I was told to drop 100 lbs. I was 331 lbs. at the time now im at 244 13 lbs. from reaching my goal. Weight should matter to everyone! Losing the 86 lbs has improved my health, made me feel better about myself, and has also attracted the opposite sex!

I've read all your statements. I was born in 1942, I stayed thin till my life became so stressful my only solution was eating since I don't smoke, drink or chase strange men. I have outlived 2 husbands. I'm in a w/c and that will never change. I take care of myself and live alone. My home and vehicle are paid for. I don't need anything from anyone. We are all meant to be with someone. Sometimes we are lucky and that someone comes along and your life improves. Other times you are meant to travel the rest of your life alone. I don't need or want a husband but I would someday like to find a male companion who I can share lifes joys. Someone to go places with. Someone to watch the sunrise with.
It's very nice to be held when good things happen but even better to have someone hold you when things go wrong. Someone who will listen when your children piss you off or make you so proud--you think you will bust. Someone who will listen and not disaggree when you say your grandchildren and greatgrands are the most beautiful in the world. There is so much to share that does not cost much money.
If you look in a man's eyes you see his heart and know if he's right for you. I'm a big woman who is slowly losing weight and someday I will weigh what I am suppose to. If someone is judging me only on my weight---I will not want him when I am small. I have a big heart and care for people. I try not to think about what he can do for me but what we can do together. I'm one of the lucky ones. I don't care what he looks like as long as he can show me he cares with gentleness and kindness. I spent most of my life working as an RN who worked critical care (ICU, CCU, etc ). I saw thousands of people who showed up to see what in it for them. Nope, that's not what I want. I want someone to be my friend whose company I enjoy--who respects me as I respect him. I'm no different than any other adult. I enjoy sex--but sex is something you work up to over a period of time. One night stands will never be my way. I was raised by catholic family and attended a catholic school.
Sex is a gift to your partner after you are sure he is going to be your partner. That does not happen over night.I'm not saying the ladies of today are wrong--it is just differnt for my age group. If all a man sees is your weight--he's not right for you.
I have seen too many men who are 50 to 100 pounds overweight looking for a very tiny woman. Good luck. Weight does matter but only for health reasons. I'm in a w/c because I fell off a roof. I fell 2 1/2 stories. Men see my w/c and it scares them. I cook, clean, and etc. You don't need a man to shop, work, or etc. When I think about a husband--I remember cleaning up after them and cooking for them as well as being held by them. Yup being over weight will effect your life--but is a man only sees your weight you don't need him. He will be dead weight holding you back. I told my family a good husband is a blessing but remember--learn to do it yourself because he might die, MINE DID. good luck.......

the saddest part about this topic is that ppl that make weight matter over character is 1 of the many reasons 4 our society falling apart. an overweight nice person is still gonna be nice when they lose the weight. a athletic, or slim person with a bad character is just a bad character skinny or big. when u put worth cause of weight, it shows that there isnt much compassion. I have dated woman thin 2 thick. Her personality & her willingness 2 grow w/ me decided our fate. every 1 is entitled 2 their opinion. it really matters 2 those giving it. my opinion is that it shouldn't matter.

Weight and appearance matter. I take care of myself and expect the person I'm with to do the same. Being over weight is a statement that you have no self respect and just too lazy to do anything about it. And don't give me the genetic sad story because that's only for a small percentage of the population.
great2have
Absolutely!
I know that when my weight is proportioned to my height, I am healthier. Healthier = happier!
I have to tell you that I would look funny next to an obese man. Sorry, but that's the cold hard truth. And don't think that skinny people aren't being judged either. I work hard in maintaining a good weight and why shouldn't I look for the same? The truth is that we all like internal and external beauty. I am not obsessed by being thin, I am mostly interested at getting older healthier with both internal and external beauty.
I feel the same way
When the whole family is obese, it's not genetics. It's because bad habbits were passed down from generation to generation.

I fourth this...
We collect a large (no pun intended) amount of information through our eyes. Appearances tells us when someone is healthy, sick, dead, undead, ghost... etc. Living beings are biologically wired to seek the best suitable mate which often gets judged by how healthy they look. Overweight and obese (or extremely underweight) is unhealthy, so... there are less individuals willing to pair up with someone in that state.
We humans are also wired to seek social compatibility in a mate, therefore, if they judge by your appearance that you would not be able to keep up with their social and activity demands... out of luck!
Bottom line, looks matter!

but looks do matter. You have to be with someone who is somewhat at least, physically attractive. Maybe OP, it wasnt your picture.. maybe it wasnt anything about you at all. Not being picked and living through it is what online dating is all about. So put your picture up there and be proud. They say there is someone for everyone. and what one person finds attractive another doesnt.

I am a fat woman. I know I'm not as healthy as I should be. I know I'm not as attractive as I could be. Here's the thing, it matters! Even though I'm fat, I don't want to date someone morbidly obese. Yes, I like a man with a little meat on his bones, but obesity is NOT healthy OR attractive. I'm working hard to lose the weight and develop healthy eating habits. I care about what I put into my body, and I hope to meet someone who does the same. I want someone I can work out with and live a long, healthy life with.

There are web sites that cater to men and woman who are "larger", or who are looking for a "larger" mate, love comes in all sizes, If you're a large guy or girl and the person you're interested in has a basic problem with their partner being overweight, move on. The fight will not be worth it, because I think it's a big deal, why waste so much time convincing someone that you're someone they should date? Be with someone who is interested in YOU, just as you are..it's alright to be overweght, there's love waiting for you in the world, and many men and woman really don't mind a few extra pound, some even prefer it...don't waste your time with someone who wants you to change to gain their attention, move on to someone who just likes YOU. I don't think you can change some ones mind, they either like you or they don't, of course over time peoples feeling can change as they really get to know someone...but just think about all you may have missed bu sticking your attention and goals on a person who wants you to change..right from the beginning. Be yourself, find a mate who likes YOU, and take it from there. And yes, I am a fat woman, I have met men who loved that, men hated that, and men who just wanted a good woman to love...you won't be able to talk someone into liking you or finding you attractive, you just have to decide that you're worth finding love...and take that attitude with you into your day. As a relationship grows into love we all change a little and compromise to make the relationship great. This happenes over time and its a mutual thing..with both partners contributing to what the others needs, or can't have. If being fat is a deal breaker for a man or woman ...and you are fat..move on, your life will be so much happier, and your future relationship so much better. I've tried it both ways over the years, made some mistakes, and have also made an awesome choice along the way, a wonderful husband, friend and lover, a best friend, who has also taken, and loved me exactly the way I am. Unfortunately, my dear husband passed away this last year, Cancer...that terrible "C" word took him, so I am uncoupled. I'm not looking now, i have more healing to do, but when i am I'll be looking for a man who will love me compleately...we can change too over time, we all do, in many ways...but really if you are fat and fat is a deal breaker...move on. This has been my experience, I'm happy, ingeneral...right now not so much as grieveing is not a happy time, but I know I'll get there again. Be good to yourself, whatever your size. Lori B.

Now I'm 30 he is 44 heavy drinker and smoker and hasn't seen a doctor in 4 years. I see my doc monthly I have physicals yearly I have a back injury and a bad thyroid but to him those are excuses and being 290 automatically makes me unhealthy oh and he it like 40lbs underweight. Please give me some advice?

Weight does not matter much but if a man can not find or work his penis then it is a problem. My first husband was bigger than me and it was a sexless marriage. I was still technically a virgin when I got divorced. never again!!! he was very small and with all his weight there was no penis lol sorry but that was gross lol

I think its more of a personal preference.. Weight and being unhealthy two different things. Just as someone can be obese the opposite can be unattractive too. Ever see those boobless tooth picks...Yea that's worst..Just certain things are a turn off.

WEIGHT SHOULDN'T MATTER AT ALL, YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE. SOME WOMEN OVER DO IT. THINNER WOMEN GET ON MY NERVES WHEN THEY THINK THERE OVER WEIGHT, GIVE ME A BREAK, YOUR SELF ESTEEM IS LOW. I FIND THAT TO BE GERY
