The board is steel with a black patina, with inlaid red padauk wood. It took me months of ten hour days to make this, but I was making a production order of belt buckles at the time too. It only appears like silver and contains no actual silver. It tarnishes pretty badly. Sterling silver is usually stamped with .925 meaning the other .075 is copper. "Raw" silver (I assume you don't mean silver found in mines, which may contain any amount of silver) is certified by the government as being .9999 pure silver. It's what a silver dollar is made of, but there's some issues with working it which makes sterling a better choice. I won't get into the issues here. I was a jewelry major years ago, but I got into blacksmithing more. Correct me if I'm wrong about any of this info... it's been years since I've studied it.
