My Yorkie is 12, her 1/2 sister, my Mom's Yorkie Poo is also 12 and my Aussies are 4. Aussies (Australian Shepherds live to be about 16. Yorkies are also known to live to be about 16. It's all in the care, time and love they receive. It's wonderful that your dog is as old as it is and still active!! You are truly blessed!!

I have 3 cats, 2 males and a female (all 3 are fixed and indoor 100% of the time). They're all about 4 years old, I've had the boys since they were about 6 weeks old, and my girl a little over 3 years after she was a stray I took a liking to and adopted.

18 years is a long time for a dog! I've had my dog since he was a puppy, and now he's 12 years old. He still has energy, but good things don't last forever. . .

Ive had lots of dogs my oldest i just recently had to put her down cancer she was 15 years best dog i ever owned i have two 10 year olds a couple of 8 year olds the ret of my camp is pretty much all under 5 years know clue how long cats live ? Not long at my house just kidding.

I just had to put one of my labs down...he was 10. He was really hurting g and it was time. One offor the hardest thing I evertime had to do. I held him til he was gone.

I've had one of my dogs for 6 years got hem from a puppy at 8 weeks old. I've had one live to be 18 years. Its all in how u take keep them.

My dogs are nine and ten but there is no way to predict that. It all depends on their health. Any breed can have problems and some have more than others. Smaller dogs usually have a longer life than larger ones. Mine have been with me since they were a few weeks old.
Here is another example. I had Golden Retrievers for 27 years. The first one died at 12, the second one was 10. and my third one was only 3. It is heartbreaking to lose a friend and I changed to a mixed breed after I lost the 3 year old.
But there is no guarantee. These dogs have so many allergies that they can't eat dog food.

My longest lived dog was my toy poodle,Tinker.He died peacefully in my arms just days siort of his 21st birthday,seems like just one year ago,but this Nov will mark two years since his passing.Our pll made it to 17 yrs old.Quite remarkible since their life expectatcy is 12 yrs by estimate my phone wont let me fix the breed above to pitbull (the 17 yr old)

My cat,Gracie,is 16 yrs old..Her name is AMAZING GRACE because I found her as a tiny kitten on the roadside,mauled by an animal.Nobody thought shed live,including me.She was laid open from hip to knee w all of that bone exposed.It was the weekend,no vet aavilible until monday.I had to scrub and scrape necrotic tissue from the wound w out any anethetic.She was soo fevered,painful and weak she couldnt even cry out in pain.When I was through I put my tear soaked face near hers abd the kitten too weak to cry out placed her paw on my jaw and guided my face closer to hers sovshe could place one tender pink kitty kiss on my nose.Thank You,God,for sending her to me and making her such the blessing in my life.

18 is pretty old for a dog, my dog just turned two in June, I hope he lives that long!
