Let's say you've been seeing someone. For even about two months, you've been intimate and stayed over each others homes every now and then. Now you and whoever you're with feel pretty comfortable with each other after some time. This person has allergies and tries to fight it when he/she comes over. Now you've decided for them to move in but they said you must get rid of your cat or dog. Would you?

I would not give my dog if my life depends on it. Through think and thin. My dog gives me unconditional love, good days and bad. This world is filled with people who are compatible to you and can fen for themselves. Your pet loves and depends on you, that's a bond that should not be broking. Tell he/she to go see an allergies. They will if they truly love you even half as much as your pet does. I'M JUST SAYING!

That should be brought up when you start dating,by the way I have pets.If you don't like them then probably not gonna work out.They were there before you brought somebody new in and to me there like family.Just saying!!

The cat and dog problem can be resolved without anyone leaving if you both apply yourselves to the resulution.That naughty pus needs to learn to not be territorial and the dogs need to learn not to bother him.Everyone should be spayed n neutered,including puss.

No. I chose my pets as a lifetime commitment and I will honor it - they give me so much joy on a daily basis.
Nothing makes me sadder (doing rescue work) than when we have senior pets who's families gave them up at a very vulnerable point in their relatively short lives. 
Ditto! Pets are not expendable. Do your research on the pet before you buy/adopt. Make certain you are a good fit/match for that breed or type of pet. Too many end up being dumped or at shelters because the person didn't take to time to research what the breeds needs and personality are like.

I rescued my poodle from someone who had him a while was goin take him to pound. I have been in relationship for 15 months but he knew about my dog and cat. I feel when u take in these helpless animals u should do the right thing reguardless of whoever. I love my guy but i love dog and cat too. My guy has to take me and my animal its a package deal.

I like your style 
When I take a pet into my home, it is for the life of the animal. I don't own them, I am their care taker. The thought of giving something I dearly love away would be devastating, it would be unthinkable for someone to ask for a person to give up a pet. Clearly they are not a match.

People can say that they have allergies and tell you to get rid of your pet just because they are scared of or dont like them. Unless they are sneezing and have blood shot eyes then i wont believe that they have allergies. Even if they did i still wouldnt get rid of my cats. They are my babies and i love them dearly.
50 million animals are put down each year because shelters have no room for them because people dump them at shelters because they dont want them anymore or they get them for their child and the child plays with them for 2 seconds and wants nothing more to do with it.
do you think the problem is bf's and gf's making people get rid of their pets or because of trash not spaying and neutering them in the first place?

Nope i would not. Pets love you unconditionally and for you to give your pet away is just betrayal. I suffer from allergies and I got pretty sick this year. My doctor said it was because of my pets. I took a treatment and I take a pill a day for my allergies. Never crossed my mind to get rid of my pets. I wouldn't do it for a relationship either.

There's absolutely no way I could ever give up my boy! Love him to much. Today's was his tenth birthday.. And I'm hoping for many more to come.... Been through a lot together!! Moved 8 times in two years just cause he's a pit. So yeah there's no way I would ever just give him up!!
