Times have changed and that is a strong statement you have there. Could be viewed a few different ways, and turned around between the sexes. First though I had and with all respects is Control Freak / Red Flag, but I'm not one to just jump to conclusions. To put things in the right prospective. There are all kinds of folks in the world now days, and it really doesn't matter if they are part of your business or not. Also have to remember taking care of a house and home can be a job in itself. Specially if there are children involved. That person that stays home is worth every penny to contributing to every one involved as long as they are doing it and not just playing around. They can also be of a help in the business as well from home. Now if no children are involved. They are willing to learn the business that you created. Than by all means if you wish to do so. Why not? A partner that is willing to help in working to bring in more bread and butter to the table is priceless. At the same time you also have to respect them and some of their input as well.
If the person is really willing. Go for it.
Heck I would love to find someone that doesn't say "Huh?" when I talk shop, could bring me supplies if I run out of a product line while doing a show. Answer the phone if I'm occupied with a customer or in the middle of a service job. Or even be able to get trouble shooting information from a customer to give me a clue before I arrive on site. Or even for example. Bring me some lunch, bathroom brake, or even bring the kids for a visit during a show. Know the product lines, and be able to sell the correct products, or services that would fit the customers needs. All working together to better the life's involved. Heck, I'm not going to be around forever. Nobody is. Times are not getting any easyer. Nor is finding work from someone else. Nothing wrong with wanting to leave security behind for our loved ones.
This question indeed goes in both directions for man or woman. Again, if they are willing, and actually do it. Sure, go for it. But if it's all just a power trip. Not a good idea.

Actually in the real world there is turn around situations. My answer was from trying to look at both sides, and not just one. Not really trying to strike a nerve, but I'm not going to change a thing.
