I took in 2 more rescue horses. Said i was done with that but, here i am again. With the dry conditions an tight hay market, ive come up with a good idea. A friends son has a lawn service. When he has lawns that arent drenched in chemicals, i send my daughter with a trailer and collect the clippings. Saves him tim from going to the landfill and the horses do well on them.

Are the horses named Alpo and Elmer? There was a time when only the poor owned horses, now only the rich can feed the hay burners.

Beware of colic... Wet grass clippings will cause colic in quiet a few horses. Best for it to be dried, like alfalfa, or any hay for that matter, before feeding.

Got it covered. We irrigate alfalfa and shipped a bunch of it to your area. As with any change in diet(human or animal), you have to use common sense. Should I tell the cows, calves and horses, that they should waite to eat the green pasture grass, until it dries up?

I just sold a paint gelding that would grass founder. He's the only horse I've ever owned that had to be fed grass hay until mid July. To high maintenance for me. He's now a dude horse that packs fat tourists around.

Naw dumbass, all my horses teeth are floated and cared for. Hooves are trimmed. Comes from being in a ranching/rodeo/farming family, that takes pride in our work and animals. Why don't you aeronautically fornicate a rotating pastry. If I need to put that in plain and simple to understand format, just ask.

Hey know it all you may get there teeth floated but I bet it's by a vet or the cheapest guy possible. There teeth affect there hole body but I garauntee you don't know shit about the affects feed teeth and environment have on a horse. My paint founders on grass could be allergic to the type.
Don't act like your horses are these All around champs because you sound like every dime a dozen horse trader I've ever met.
You take pride but yet you want to feed them grass clippings ya that's pride.

There is an old saying in cow country boy, "A good horse is best suited for a good horsemen".

Cheapest guy possible?LOL I doubt you have a clue to wolfs teeth and the problem they can cause. The paints had to be pulled. You can armchair with GOOGLE and make yourself look like you know a little, in truth you're just an angry lil guy...for whatever reason. You wouldn't know the effects of sand colic, twisted gut, or what medicine to give a horse exhibiting symptoms. Just this paragraph should keep you busy for a couple of hours.

No, the paint wasn't allergic, nor did he ever show symptoms of allergies. Enzyme deficiency, yes. Wasn't smart enough to catch that was ya, ya ole hoss pro

My personal horse has Hardtwist and Buck Handc*ck and Skipper W on the top and Easy Jet and Frosty Feature on the bottom. He's the type of horse that wannabes like you should never, ever attempt to ride. It takes a horseman to handle him.

Back to the paint, the only reason I gave him a chance was because of the Rebel blood in him. Turned out that he wasn't cut out for this country. Giving horsey rides to tourist like you is what he's best suited for.

With al of the idiots that have hobby horses, then dump them, after they spoiled them or could no longer afford them...or both. It's people like me and my family that take up the slack from idiot wannabes. I was involved in getting the law passed, making it illegal for the Humane society to refuse taking in horses or other abandoned animals. Before we passed that law here, those jerkoffs wouldn't take horses.

Seriously, I doubt you know which end of a cow gets up first or you probably think horses only sleep standing up

BTW I'm not a horse trader. Never have been.

It's one thing when you get into ranching and it's another when your born into it. Do stick to your grass clippings alright big dog.

Your short sighted arrogance is amusing. Dud you ever think, that i might have brought the idea up for those struggling to keep theur horses? Of course not. Ive been involved life long, yes. As a horsemanship instructor in 4H, i see many families that struggle to keep their animals. If grass clippings can help them out, then im all for it. I wonder if youve ever looked past your own nose.

Now boys I love horses but obviously don't know half the shit you are talking
about. I do see the point of dry hay or grass. I use to feed mine a mix of hay,
molasses stick and one more thing. It reminded me of granola for horses. They
loved it. One day an idiot helped my father get the food out and place it in the
building. The horse got in it and foundered. Even as a novice I had more sense than
that. I am trying to learn from the sites so lets be giving out good advice. I know
about shoeing and foundering. My poor horse drowned because of the over feeding. It
obviously makes them thirst. She went to the river. She was a great swimmer and would
even dive under. We found her down stream on a barge. It took every ounce of my being
not to go kill that kid. She is buried on my property. She was beautiful and deserved
better watch who helps you.
