women love this because it affirms her status as the superior in the relationship. all of these "courtesies" for her came from feudal society. they were the actions of a servant to his mistress. Opening all doors, standing when she enters a room and deferring to her decisions. add in the one-way transfer of funds and you clearly get a two tiered system.
Why so many men won't open/hold doors for women can be traced back to the angry feminists. When men are punished when they do and are punished when they don't, why bother.

Another thing to consider is "consistency of behavior" and the challeneges that can present.
Let's say you do it for the first 312 times you both get into a vehicle. On the 313th time you fail to do so. Will there be issues? Questions? Accusations?
It's like the weekly flower "trap". The one week you forget...

Nice to see you tip your hand DS. That is one of things that has always been interesting to me. Two men can do the exact same good thing...but for different reasons. The one who gives or does to get will get kicked to the curb. Especially if it is for high and mighty purpose of getting laid. Just a bit too close to stealing in my mind. If he is too comfortable with that or moves naturally in that way he will dog me in other important ways...

Sounds like the only reason men open a door for a woman is because they find her attractive and want to get in pants.

To answer your question Barry -
I do not sit and count how many times a man opens the door for me. Nor do I count how many times he walks on the outside to protect me. But he should do it most of the time because it's in his heart to show respect and because he values me.
If he has to argue and p#ss and moan about it - I would rather be alone.
I have a lot to give to him - a lot of love, respect, and effort to please him. But I won't waste it on a man who does things just to get laid or grudgingly does things for me. I can sense that in a second. My life is fine without that. Let him say hello and stay acquainted with Rosie for life. H3ll , let him marry her for all I care.

The majority of men I've dated have opened my car door for me. It's been the rule, rather than the exception. I like and appreciate it, and yeah, I do notice if someone doesn't.
But it's not a dealbreaker. There are plenty of things a lot more important to me than that.
I had a girlfriend who would stand and wait by her door and refuse to get into the car until the guy opened it. I thought that was ridiculous.

Why not be polite to a woman. We get your beer, fix you a sandwhich trays so you dont miss any of the game. To many woman let these simple things men can do to make a woman feel appreciated slide by.
