Golden...I just don't know what happens to young ones today. I wonder if when they are young children they are spoiled too much. They get what they ask for and if not they know how to get to parents to give them what they want. I have Witnessed to some it is "All About ME". So Self Centered. This generation of young people are so different then how we grew up. It Stresses me out so much..to know ones who are ready to take their own lives because they WANT...WANT... never satisfied. It's not only the young ones in the 10's and 20's...it is also the ones in their 30's and forward. This started out many years ago. I think when these children were born...the parents were so busy working to make a living the kids were raised by other people and parents made it up by giving them Everything.
This is my 2 cents worth. Hopeful we can get posts from other parents and what they think.

Got an early call from son--he took her car and phone away and told her she'd have to earn them this time--and they have an appointment with her to her shrink--which shes been going to since she was 15....It is sad--but she was took care of by others while parents worked...---

my grandmother, a little dutch lady 5 foot tall, raised 7 boys by herself after her husband died, and with an iron hand, no smoking, or drinking in her house, lol, when one of the kids was throwing a fit, told to me by my dad, grandma, would listen for a few seconds, and then calmly go and get a glass of cold water, ande throw it in their face, after a few minutes, of sputtering, and so forth, they shut up,

I never gave my parents one ounce of trouble--My Dad was a big Irishman and we kids knew--when he said something we did it....no talk back in that day..--today DRUGS AND ALCOHOL has destroyed the younger ones who got into wrong groups--

Lucky...Never knew about the cold water...Wow!! I would have taken that better than a Whopping. 
Golden...you are correct about the Drugs and Alcohol. Now days it is so plentiful for the young to get. Some parents are really scared of their own children or scared what they will do to themselves. Such a Shame.
I was adopted by my Grandparents when I was 4 years old. Didn't have any brothers or sister...was raised alone. Had Cousins come over on week ends. My G/Mother was very strict. My G/father was very loving and took up for me many times. But I was raised by the Iron Hand. I am very thankful I was.

Me too Dellia with iron hand---just to tell you all what has happened---Grand-daughter was committed to mental institution for detox and then will go to a half-way house to check check on her daily--it will either cure her or kill her my son told me--he is so hurt ---

i guess all those drugs were not arount when we were growing up, but i did know some that got hooked on alcahol, if all the drugs available today were available back in our day, our generation would of probably been just as bad

Not with the parents we had--my Dad was strict and He had the boys scared to death of him local--I had to date boys from another town --the truth-- but he didn't allow my Mothers brothers around if they were drinking......

My Father was stern --but never got a whipping....
My younger brother was a rebel in his teen
Dad tried his best to straighten him out
He would race his cars all over the county
totaled several and thought it funny he was never hurt
I actually felt sorry for my Dad...
I don't believe in harsh beating kids in discipline.

I used time out with my Daughter or would limit her to TV and when she got older...took keys for her car I bought her when she was 16 years. That says...Mom means business. She would pout for a few days..OH Well she got over it.

Got in a discussion with a school friend a few days ago talking about our childhood....and she began to cry about how bad it was at home for her...she swore her Dad didn't love her and beat her all the time...I can't recall ever having a whipping..My Dad really truly loved me being the only girl --But I still had to work hard on the farm...
We always knew we had to get up and hit the fields in time of harvest...but I was at Savannah Beach when I was free.......I thought it was heaven to not have to work...

I was very loved by my G/Parents. The only thing I got in trouble for...was not Washing Dishes. I would do anything else but wash dishes. My G/Father would take up for me and wash them himself. Wasn't right ..I know. I hate washing dishes today.
Golden..went to that Neighborhood Store...MY OH MY!!! took me 30 minutes to find parking space. Small parking lot. The prices are the same as Walmart Centers.The good thing about the trip was...all the items were fresh..well stocked...and store was clean. I love going to New Store Opening.

The Oreo Dessert I mentioned in the Yuk and Yummy is...Chocolate chip cookie dough placed in bottom of Casserole dish..lay Full Oreo Cookies on top..then use a box of Brownie cake mix...mix as directed on box and pour on top. Bake. If you are on a diet this is not something you can eat everyday. Can be served with Ice Cream or Whipped Cream.

The Flu is raging in about All States. 15 Children have died already. Hardest hit are the Children and the Elderly. Be Careful when you go out in Public. I will be wearing gloves and Will put on a face Mask if I have too. Clean those Shopping Carts off with the Sanitizer and use it on your hands. I know it is impossible to be free of all the germs..they are everywhere. But, I will do my best to protect me. Praying for All of us.

"Little" Jimmie D*ckens..was a Legend. Loved his singing. He was 94 years and performed his last time on December 20th at the Grand Ole Opry House...5 days later he had a Stroke. R.I.P He will be missed.
Donna Douglas played on the Beverly Hillbillies as..Elly Mae Clampett. I watch the Hillbillies every chance I get. Love them. She was 81 years old and Died of Cancer. May She R.I.P.

dellia..They sure do not make them like they use to. I was sad to see that the ex governor of NY Mario Como passed away. I do not usually talk about politics but, IMO, he was a good man.

Glad you got your Electric Blanket. I haven't had one in years. My bedroom stays around 72 degrees. I remember how Cold I used to be growing up. So many quilts on our bed. But, we stayed warm.

Would you believe the electric blanket is tore up---going to drop in temperature all day-Can't take it back to Walmart--have to call Sunbeam--guess it will take a while to get a new cord.......---makes you want to curse....
