very cool looking c*ckpit. checked out some motortrend photos and info, and i agree on the nice c*ckpit.
I like the instrument panel lit up in a nice blue.
Be a dreamy ride for night driving.
The 420 hp 5.0. with a 155 mph capability shoul sell, and the 2.3 and 3.7,i'd say will only catch the eyes of people fuel economy wise,or because they're lower priced than the 5.0.
It's amazing at how just the sweet sound of a 5.0 mustang sells though.
That exterior though
I saw a yellow one on the motortrend site that was pretty nice though.

Mercedes AMG 3.2 Baby Hammer, 255bhp N/A in a 2400lb sedan that handled like a track car, idled fine in traffic and cracked 160mph no sweat. Wheels Magazine called it a Porsche with a baby seat.
Mine goes okay with a warmed over 2.6 (~185bhp), but once you get over 200hp these little Mercs really fly. Wind resistance is negligible so high speed acceleration is pretty astonishing in its class. Standard features and design quality was well ahead of the game compared to other manufacturers of the day, a mid-80s W201 Merc is basically the same thing as a mid-90s sport-sedan from any other make, but looks like something your grandma drives to the shops.
In value for money and inherent qualities, easily best car I've ever driven or owned, there's been a few. People put later model Merc sixes or alloy 8s in them if you want crazy grunt, the stock original six bottom end can handle over 700bhp without modification (some Norwegians and a turbo proved that on the track).
There's a DTM track version with Cosworth heads on the 2.3 and 2.5 four-pots (190-235bhp N/A in street trim), those were the ones you saw in Euro touring races with the Evo bodykits. But I don't like fours (2.6 and the AMG 3.2 are sixes).
The AMG ones weren't homologated for racing, but they did use them for pace cars.
It's also the prototype model for the C-class that followed, and forerunner of the AMG C36, which is a seriously quick 90s car. Ferrari quick. But ugly tail lights on those.

I'd say about 80% of the cars from the 80s AND 90s were constant junk.
it paved way,and was a learning lesson for 2000 on up....when car makers got more serious and they were actually better.
I was never a ford guy,but to be honest....
im impressed with the constant creativity they come up with, their cars are great now,and they aren't overpriced like chevy's.

A lot of 80s cars were really revamped 70s cars, facelifted for the change to unleaded fuels. Over here our old 70s GM-Holdens still used the old iron block but added fuel injection, lowered compression and switched to unleaded. Same with the Fords. 70s cars really, in low-comp versions with reduced power, but fuel injection and electronic ignition was a new addition that didn't improve power, but did improve throttle response so it seemed more advanced than carb and points ignition.
So there was basically a drop in performance and economy from the cars people had been buying, the cleveland V8s and big OHV sixes, wrapped up in a facelift body with square headlights instead of round ones. Nothing improved, drop in performance, new car sales actually dropped through the 80s here, except for the sports-sedans with the bodykits and warmed over engines you pay top dollar for and could do yourself with an older car for half as much and twice the performance.
I actually had an old Torana in the 80s, with a 3.3 litre six running about 250bhp and I used to regularly cream the latest top line "Brocky Commodore" sports sedans. The base model 5.0 litre V8 only produced something like 160bhp on unleaded in the mid-80s, the hotrod version only managed about 185bhp and it's got a lot of options weight.
It was only the Euro prestige market that actually brought improvement immediately into the game on unleaded in the 80s. The Merc 2.0 litre four had the same power as a Ford 4.1 litre six with twice the economy, the 2.6 litre six had the same power as the GM 5.0 V8 that year with twice the economy and the 3.0 litre six beats out any sports sedan whether a warmed over 8 or a turbo 4 in 1985. Same story with BMW, Aston Martin and others. In 1985 stock dealer cars a European small capacity six easily outsped large capacity V8s and turbos from any major manufacturer and cost half as much to run.
But you paid for that on the showroom floor. You really paid for it.
My car sold new for over $34,000 back in the 80s. I bought it for a grand last year and it's done under 120,000 miles. They weren't a bargain then, but damn they are now.

For major manufacturers, Buick, GM, Ford, etc. it was only really the end of the 80s and into the 90s that they came good, but still used oversize engines to do a job higher quality technology could do better with much less.
A 90s Buick V6 in 3.8 litre injected is the same rating as my 80s 2.6 litre I6 injected in all the performance curves, but I have far and away better economy at 30mpg vs 23 at best. I get crack on 500km out of a 55 litre tank going heavy and having plenty of highway fun times. It's the same thing as an 80s 5.0 litre V8, and it's half the capacity and uses comparatively no fuel to move a similar weight car just as fast or faster.
Germans used vacuum/mechanical injection in the 80s, not as tunable as modern EFI but is the most economical fuel delivery at peak outputs ever made. It's from WW2 warbird engines, designed for max performance and maximum combat range combined. Just doesn't like things like vacuum leaks and worn seals much.
Everytime I get onto an 80s car from a major manufacturer like Ford, etc, it just blows my mind how 70s they really are, how far behind the marque at the top line those years.

I have to disagree with you Fast, the best cars GM produced were between '89-'94. These cars with reasonable maintenance could go 250 to 300 k miles, with the original exhaust! After OBD II in 95, the electronics cheapened, the fuel injection became problematic, suspension components became Chinese. Engine gaskets fail at a higher rate. I work on GM, but I drive Toyota and Honda, and of course Yamaca.

yeah, ive always been a Pontiac guy,but I like that era of Camaro too(1980).
when Camaro came out with that tireless redesign in 81",they ran it into the ground.
I hung out with some IROC worshippers that bragged about how fast their car was.....
until a grand national would challenge their a** at the red light.

My bad
It was 80-81camaros i was thinking of with nice designs, and it was 82 when that awful style began, and to me,the 90s with the 3.4 and so on were no better.
Maybe a little better the past two or three years or so,but still still awful looking in my opinion, especially compared to the mustangs.
Surely Mustang sales will drop for 2014 though, unless that attractive c*ckpit sell the car.

probably a whole new crowd that will take interest, because it has European body lines and influence to it.
its nice looking, but not my thing.
you either really love it,or cant stand it at all.
a more powerful V6,without robbing the pocket book is what will sell too.

I like the new stang, according to color scheme, but overall,i'm in between not bad at all,and so ugly it's pretty..
Then again,i think white looks awful on most vehicles, such as on Ford and GM trucks, and some other vehicles, but i's say a good color scheme and fuel economy with good power will sell, and well no,the styling aint too bad either.
