I think it's hard on both. Other parents will be more understanding and wanting to date other parents as of dating someone who isn't a mom or dad. If you're looking for someone who doesn't have kids it probably will be hard for you only because she doesn't understand what it's like to be a mother/parent. Try dating someone who has kids, do play dates. Include the kids and that will only make your bond stronger.

As a single dad with kids living with you you're in the minority. Guys are used to dating moms who have kids living with them full time. Usually when women are dating guys who have kids they only have part custody. It's not a problem, you're making it a problem. There are a lot of women who can relate to being a single, full time parent.

Perhaps it has nothing to do with you being a dad.

1. Baby Mama Drama

2. Attention

Those would be the top two reasons IMO.

Even if you don't have BM Drama a lot of woman don't want to chance getting involved in that since it could be them who starts it.

And as you know in general they want all the attention you can give them so if you have kids of your own that takes a lot of her time away and if she has kids too then competition for time and trying to make it "fair" for all...

As a single father I would say enjoy life and love it and love being the single dad. These are years you will always cherish and never get back.

Instead of worrying of a relationship keep focused on your kids and set the bar on life for them don't bounce around from woman to woman it doesn't show them a strong foundation.

The single dads that I have dated tend to be very busy because they are always working to pay child support and pay their own bills and then they end up having their kids every weekend or every other weekend thus messing up any date time we could have because I have my kids on the opposite days and my weekends are my FREE time and I don't want to spend them around the guys brats. However, if the guy knows how to parent correctly then the kids aren't so bad, but if they are under the age of 12 they are usually brats and they are always with the man on weekends and I won't date a man that's too tied down to pay attention to me.

Why date?? Most men will not get a babysitter on their weekends because they haven't seen their kids all week which is understandable but I don't want to go out with a man and his kid(s). You can't move on in the relationship if you don't a lot of time together alone. It feels more like a friendship than dating if our kids are always around when we're together.

Maybe it's just the guy you met. I doubt every single man that you could find that has children has baby mama drama. You've only tried to date one. Since I've been single again (I have 3 kids) I've dated 4 dads and none of the moms were a bother at all except for one of them and that's because the guy lied about being separated from her and was seeing her and me at the same time. He got kicked to the curb as soon as I found out about his wife.

nawh i feel its easier for a single man to get one then the other way. i mean women love taking on challenges that make em look better then the last girl that was in the picture. i totally gotta also put into factor how many kids cause there hast to be someone really special to fit into such a large family with lots of different personalities and still be patient and loving

I think single women with kids get a very bad wrap. While single men with children are thought of being hero's who take care of their children.

But sorry you're having difficulties.

This was my challenge, I tried and kept the relationship at the start between us, so that I get to learn more about him. I don’t involve my kids until I feel the man can contribute to that part of the relationship. Very often they get frustrated about why I don’t spend enough time with them. As a result, I end it because I’m not ready to try and convince them why the waiting is necessary. I don't think this issue is just one sided. I think most dating adults struggle with this dilemma.
