...his increasingly limited range will serve to ruin any chances for the Bronx bombers to return to the world series come next October. Doomed...the 2014 Yankees are doomed--doomed I tell you.

yes, his range is more limited than in past years, so that will be a detriment. But if you think that this is the Yankees major problem, then you, sir, are nuts. The entire lineup is OLD OLD OLD!!!! And throughout the lineup are guys with nagging injury issues. with a history of time on the DL. If the Yankees get more than 100 games out of Jeter, they should be happy. If they get more than 110 games out of Ellsbury, they should turn handstands. Texeira has been an injury issue for the last two seasons. Brian Roberts? give me a break, get the guy a walker.
That's just their lineup.

They have patched together some reasonable help. McCann will be an immense help behind the plate, at bat, and in the clubhouse. Beltran will do what he does, hit in the clutch and help the outfield. But he has injury history also.

The bigger issue? the pitching staff. Sabathia is a workhorse, but not the pitcher he was a couple years ago. Nova is a good contributor, but he is hardly dominating. Tanaka? a lot of money given to someone who has never performed in the majors. His first time around the league, he will be very good, but as soon as Major League batters figure him out, he will be average, at best. Kuroda? been there, done that. Pineda is key. If he can be the pitcher he was in Seattle, he could be a huge help. But if not, he is a liability.

The bullpen is a disaster. There were yankee fans who griped about Rivera the last couple years, but all he did was still put together some of the best bullpen stats in the league. He is gone now, and other than a couple of set up guys, they have nothing. It's gonna be a long season.

Not much help in the minors, either. They, like always, have mortgaged their future with some very bad free agent decisions.

So if you think that Jeter's range is the problem, you better re-think your complaint.

Gee, I was simply trying to get a reaction from sorpstar...you can analyze all you want, but I rather doubt that you picked the Red Sox to win the world series this time last year. What, you did?! Well, then, I will point out that the fine folks at Sports Illustrated picked the Indians to win it all in 1987.

I don't hate Jeter--he's a fine fellow...Bert Blyleven is nice too, but his curve no longer has the same snap.

You mean "had" bert is retired...jeter will retire but tell me again i ask besides Rivera who has as many championships then he and jeter since 1996 and jeter is back so worry about twins then worry about yanks...if jeter fails, he came back to have a great final season after injury and recuperating then retire...Rivera tried the same but both will be first ballot HoFers, no doubt......

No need to worry about the 2014 Twins as they will be lucky to win 75 games. The Yankees, on the other hand, do--I must admit--have a reasonable chance to win number 28 in 2014. Have a nice weekend...

Well jeter came in his first year a winner, he'd most likely want to go out one...they have a good of a chance as others do..
