This Easter is the one I remember most fondly............

Eater Eggs

Though I lived far out in the country childhood figures still appeared. I had ghosts at Halloween, Santa at Christmas who hid his gifts in the attic and were peeked at and the Easter Bunny.

I was very worried about the Easter Bunny for we had moved from town onto 80 acres of farmland. It was hard to find over twisty turny gravel roads leading to the middle of nowhere.

Mama suggested I make a nest for him along the fence line between the front yard and the garden where there was plenty of weeds growing and decorate it with the flowers which were struggling with the weeds. I wasn't sure this would entice the Easter Bunny for before a basket had magically appeared. I worked most of the morning making a nest and decorated it with as many flowers as I could find. I wanted to make sure it was festive enough to attract his attention. I sat watching it determined to catch the Easter Bunny in the act of laying eggs. But I soon grew tired of just sitting there and wandered away to more enticing things. After a while my Mama asked me if the Easter Bunny had left anything for me. Disgruntled I fussed he had forgotten me. She sent me to go look anyway and sure enough there was a brightly colored egg in the Nest. I checked on it off and all day and each time there was another egg, six of them altogether.

Loved that story Gayle...
We always went to my grandparents, where my cousins , my sister and I would go back in the woods to the pond (which we were told not to go to each year) and we would of course get into trouble...
Church was first and on Easter we received new shoes, new dresses, new hats and gloves and a small purse....to wear to Church. Nice memories...

I bought sturdy baskets for my daughters which we kept from year to year. Each year just before Easter we went shopping for new grass, flowers and ribbon then redecorated the baskets. We usually bought 3 or 4 dozen eggs then set up the egg dying station. My girls and I were somewhat artistic so we used watercolors to paint cute pictures on them. My husband was not artistic and it was hard to tell just what he was trying to portray.

In the morning the baskets would be magically filled with candy and the colored eggs would be hidden all over the house. After my folks came over the Easter egg hunt would move to the back yard and everyone had to have a turn at hiding and finding.

I don't remember making any traditional food for Easter dinner but a couple of days later we used all the eggs to make Eggs a la Goldenrod, one of my children's favorite meals.

Recipe for Eggs a la Goldenrod:

Cream egg whites
Sive egg yolks
Serve over toast with egg yolks on top

Simple and elegant

Another Texan Bites the Dust at Easter..
He comes home a bit drunk after a night on the Town with his buddies and he arrives late at home.
He knows his wife won't open the door, so he decides to pretend
he bought her Easter Flowers knocks at the door. .
Wife: Who is it ?
Drunk Texan... I bought Easter Flowers for the pretty lady. .
Wife opens the door says: Where are the flowers ?
Drunk Texan... Where is the pretty lady ?..."ops"
I don't even think he heard her C*ck the Gun.
His last words were:...
..............................Oh Shit...!!!........ Happy Easter All..

May everyone here find and claim the indestructible reason for Joy that Christ brought and offers to absolutely everyone, and which we celebrate each Easter!

Don't con yourself, or your kids, into trading Eternal Life for a chocolate bunny, when you/they can have both.

I take it you are Catholic-excommunicated? You (officially) were NOT severed from Christ by that, you are OFFICIALLY STILL a Christian, excommunicated or not, Have you sought restoration to fellowship?

It's not an issue with me. "The" Church has too many man made laws. The Lord does not turn anyone away. I have no problem celebrating my faith alone The bread and wine are great

Great day. My church fed anyone and everyone who would show up. No preaching, just food and drink. Lots of laughter.

Afternoon nap, walk and now I am settling in for an evening of TV.

Good for you. If you read the Holy Bible, faith is what it's all about. The church's mission should be to spread the word about Jesus-nothing less, nothing more.

There are many wonderful bible based churches, please consider visiting one when you can.

It has been a wonderful day. Devotion, songs, calls from family and friends, traditional ham, yams, veggies, deviled eggs, lemon cake and plenty of iced green tea.

The weather has been beautiful but the pollen dreadfully high....sniff sniff and sneezes have started again.

I pray that believers will not put away their JOY at all that we celebrate at Easter, which God bestowed upon us to empower our DAILY lives!
The knowledge of His gift and the Joy that fully understanding it SHOULD BRING..
..TRUMPS the power of circumstances that would crush us.
