As in Elric of Melniboné?

Thread duty - been reading GRRM's Dunk and Egg tales and am in the middle of #2 (of so far 3). Good stuff - and tangentially related to ASOIF>

Nice it's been some time since I've read him. I'll have to look for what copies I have or pick up e-versions of them.

Finished Warriors edited by George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois. A very good anthology about those who go into battle. The stories are drawn from all different genres, not just sci-fi/fantasy so it kept things fresh and interesting. In fact, my two favorites were not sci-fi/fantasy at all. I imagine most who pick this up will do so only for the GRRM story The Mystery Knight, but they'd be missing out on some other really good stories.

Finished Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs - not something I'd read left to my own devices but it was a pretty good read. In my opinion there was a much better story in the main character's relationship to his grandfather. I am sufficiently interested to read the next in the series to see what unfolds.

It is very good reading. My oldest has all the books in this series, and is quite a fan of the authors. She is the one who insisted that I read it. I believe she said they are bringing it to a TV series.

Finished The Disenchanted Widow by Christina McKenna - An entertaining read that held my interest. It's set in 1981 Northern Ireland and title character is trying to start a new life for herself, having survived the troubles of the former.

Started Legends, edited by Robert Silverberg - first up is a Dark Tower story from Stephen King.

Actually, I haven't. This will be my first taste of it. The introduction to the story gives brief synopses of the four novels out by then, and King (in an author's note) says the story in the anthology takes place during the first book.

It is. The stories are all set in their authors' signature worlds - kind of a sampler pack if you wanted to check out something new (which is a great reason to buy a short story anthology). I would think most now would pick it up for Martin's Dunk and Egg tale but there's lots of good stories to be had. Enough that there's a second volume.
