To blankly believe that someone who has kids is automatically a better parent that someone who doesn't is about as clueless as you can get.
Just because someone faced a life or death situation before - doesn't mean they are any good under pressure.
If someone without kids really cares for you who has kids, they will put every effort in to understand your situation

That depends on your character, attitude, values, morals, UNselfishness.
Childless or not; age matters not either.
Ps, ppl with children have a totally different outlook on life, maturity is not optional, they more than likely don't sleep with everyone walking, and they are settled.

I for one think you're just trying to cover up some other personal issues ,by saying it's the guy - 40 yrs and above, who has never married, and no kids, as not being marriage /boyfriend material.
I have not married, because I refuse to Just settle with someone, just not to be alone. And of the only 3 times that I have ever been engaged to, only one I would reconsider getting back with, if she wasn't living in another State. But, that would mean that I am settling.
As for No kids, that is a has been a Choice, of being Responsible. When I was with someone, either she had kids already, and had her tubes tied. Or we had the Common Sense to Use protection. If I am not sure if she will be the one I will Marry, then why bring a child into this world, and add another to the Single parent list.
It has nothing to do with My willingness to be in a Committed relationship, I just refuse to lower my preferences, and just settle. When Dating a single mom, her child or kids ALWAYS comes first. That's a given,and the way it Should be. Most guys who Know that, You have chosen to overlook Us. You decided that the looser you chose, who was someone who did not get your child comes first, but only real interest was getting into your panties. So now you classify ALL men 40 and over, never married, and No Kids, as "wrong material" or not able to committ.

This is not always true. You're making blanket statements. Maturity has nothing to do with whether you have children or not. I've met & I know/have known childish individuals with children. I've also seen ppl with multiple kids by multiple partners, both male & female. Apparently they went around the block & circled back around a few times. They clearly slept around. Also, if someone has multiple children with numerous sexual/romantic partners, this could possibly mean various custodial arrangements/living circumstances. Not to mention their inability to keep a partner for a prolonged period of time. Therefore, these ppl are not "settled." Nothing wrong with having an opinion. Don't try to pass it off as fact.

oh h*ll no! And an unmarried over 35 yr old man with a child or two is definitely not marriage material either. I have dated a couple of men that fall in this range and found out exactly WHY no one married them before me.

I agree with you about the better person to marry isn't always the ones with kids. I dated a guy once that had a kid but never been married. Over the time I dated him I found out he had dated a ton of women in just the last five years before meeting me, some years he dated more than 10 women in a year in a 'serious' relationship, BUT had found God not long before marrying me and decided to not have sex til marriage but would entice me and make me want sex but just demanded blowjobs all the time to keep from sinning if we had sex, ignored the one child he DID have and the kid was severely depressed, smoked pot, didn't work, slept all day and stayed up all night, let his mommy pay his bills, drove his mommy's car, need I say more. I still to this day wonder over and over why on earth I dated such a man.  My God I must have gone brain-dead during that time in my life.

It varies for the individual person. Some men had no choice in the childless aspect through physical things in their past, not mental. It's a slim number, yet, some things are out of a man's control despite medical technology and advances. Then, there's also, a man who wants to do it the right way and saving himself for that ONE who might be the marrying material to do things in accordance with how the BIG BOOK states how a child should be brought into this world.

I just don't want kids. I prefer childless women over 30 or 40 to date. I know those are rare, but that is my preference.

He said childless man. He didn't say never been married, never been in a relationship. The assumptions here are crazy. Ask questions people. That's how to get to know someone. And no, it does not make him undateable.
Assuming .. yea. I think we all do it to some degree. Unfortunately.
Recently I had a lady tell me that being my age and having no children was a huge red flag. Didn't say
anything about my being seperated being one. Which that I can completely understand. Didn't ask why I don't have any children. Like possibly health issues? Possibly tried but just didn't happen? Heart breaking enough without someone judging you for something you have little control over in my own situation anyhow. In the end I figured better to write that person off as someone id rather not get involved with anyway. If your not interested in learning about someone where are things going go anyway. ..

I love kids but decided long time ago I wasn't going to have my own kids in this society because 1) it was too racist and black kids had no chance of equal opportunity in this land and 2) I was a musician artist and knew I was a wild dude. Now, I believe it's different and I have much admiration for my close friend who just experienced birth of his grandson. It's still the same closed territory for black kids who haven't escaped the ghetto, meaning it takes lots of money but it's different. And next generation, I expect more will have opportunity of 1) a good education 2) outside the ghetto. Today I support a welfare ma who has had two kids recently graduate from college and a third still in college. They all went through my computer tech center program. But the reason they are successful (ma still in welfare) is because it did not take a lot of money and ma took them outside the ghetto at an early age to matriculate in a small town school. Later coming back to the city and now finding out about racism, with their hard won academic skills, the world is theirs. I still remain wild, except in their presence. But I do not like to experience the young black kid experiencing the limits enforced by racism. This is changing to some extent now, but is still enforced. Young black kids can't get apprenticeship positions in construction unions that will eventually give them salaries to support healthy families. But we are changing this now. Having kids is a hard and natural and awesome responsibility. I believe it is also warm-hearting were it not for the current racism and the deficient debt America owes to black folk. Most black folk assuage their anger by becoming weakened christians.

It depends on what you're looking for in a relationship. It also depends on why he hasn't had kids yet.
I wouldn't consider dating anyone who wanted kids in the future because I don't want anymore. I would prefer he feels the same way.
Some people bloom later in life. Some guys can't have kids. I wouldn't completely rule him out but would have some frank conversations early on.
