Follow a low sugar (diabetes like) diet. And when I say sugar I mean all the white stuff too, not just baked goods and soda. Lots of veggies with lean protein. Sugar and insulin resistance are not good. (educate yourself on hidden sugar - it is EVERYWHERE in commercial products, even peanut butter and tuna, etc...If you restrict the hidden sugar and regular sugar your cravings for it will subside quite a bit)

I'm sorry you have it so young. I at least got to eat as I wanted at 19...I got it much later.

and of course, exercise.

There is a supplement you can take. They sell it at Walmart. Put it in your mouth and let it set there for about ten seconds before swallowing. It will make sugar taste horrible and bitter. That way you can wean yourself off it.

When I got it a couple years back, it was just called "Sugar Blocker". I tried it and it works really well and it also helps you to detect where sugar is in foods you wouldn't otherwise notice it because it will taste bitter and different. But of course dont take anything until you check with a doctor. It was at Walmart so I'm sure it's still there.

Thank you very much for the advice. I will definitely take you up on that. I actually was diagnosed when I was 13 and I never new how to lose the weight. I just kept on gaining weight. I will definitely try and look out for those hidden sugars.

Be sure when you are scanning labels that you just dont look for the word "sugar." Processed food manufactures will never make it that easy for you. Avoid terms such as;

High Fructose Corn Syrup
Anhydrous dextrose
Crystal dextrose
Crystalline fructose

If if sounds super chemically just er on the side of caution and avoid eating it. Try to start making your own recipes and use all natural, whole foods. When you do buy something processed, a good rule of thumb is "the fewer ingredients you see listed, the better" and be willing to pay more money for better quality products.

Read the label. Learn about portion sizes. One tiny bag of chips is ok. Most people carry the whole bag around and forget there are 12 serving sizes in that bag. I tell my kids to pour it in a bowl. If you want more, get your lazy a** up off the couch and go get it from the kitchen I tell them over and over. Those kids are skinny for their BMI. Also what she said about ^^^^ trying to eat Organic, if you can. Most of us love the taste of Organic 1/2 & 1/2. THAT is what milk used to taste like before chemical fuct it up.

hard to lose weight, sugar is horrible is you have it but you also want sugar ALL THE TIME

Thanks for the info. Sad for a young person to have so many health problems. I hope she finds a solution to her troubles but nice of everyone to try to help her. Thats what I like about this forum, I learn a lot.

I have high testosterone, my levels for my pancreas are way off balance. It's east to gain weight but hard to loose it. I love that you ladies are helping me a lot. I truly appreciate it. I just did not know where to start.

The pancreas doesn't just provide insulin but all kinds of hormones that regulate digestive enzymes. If you are gaining weight and finding it harder to lose, that might mean you are at least getting the nutrients from the food so that's a good sign. I would try talking to a certified nutritionist about how you should go about weight loss because that will decrease your insulin resistance but I agree that cutting back on sugar is a first step that must be taken. The minimal carbohydrates you do ingest should come from green, leafy sources that are also high in fiber such as kale, broccoli and almost all veggies except the starchy ones like corn, potatoes and avoid all rice, pastas and breads, and high sugar fruits for a while. It sounds boring but it will start to break your taste for sugar and the fiber content helps you feel satiated for longer periods. All the refined carbohydrates you consume now keeps your insulin levels spiking and the hunger comes right back in an endless cycle. You have to decrease the amount of circulating insulin in your body and give your pancreas a much needed rest.
