I need some input on what u guys think about airbags on cars..Some vehicle have much more than others and there are some people out there that believe airbag actually cause more damage than the accidents it's self..
I seen cases where insurance company take out the airbag module out of the car to tell if the person was wearing seat belt or speeding..It is the black box for cars these days. What you guys think about that? good idea or bad?

As far as safety in a crash goes, research and statistics say they help. But we've all heard the airbag horror stories.
The data logging thing is good in my opinion. If you obey traffic laws and speed limits then this really shouldn't worry you. And in the event that it's the other guys fault, there's hard evidence to back your claim. That may save us all some money in the long run.

I get off road often and although never had an issue it's always in the back of my mind if they will go off with a sharp jolt or love tap... I read in the manual for a Tacoma if it hits a specific angle the side curtains will go off... It has an off switch but what if I forget??

I get off road often and although never had an issue it's always in the back of my mind if they will go off with a sharp jolt or love tap... I read in the manual for a Tacoma if it hits a specific angle the side curtains will go off... It has an off switch but what if I forget??
Its rare to trigger a false impact but its been known to happen. Side impact are hard to trigger cause its on the middle post.. as for the front crash sensor..depends on speed and how hard the impact is, then it will deployed.
I know of 2 shops that deployed all the airbags by accident just by taking out the airbag module out of the car w/o disconnecting the battery. even if you disconnect the battery and static from you body hit the module then poof...there goes all the airbags.
If you want then you can just pull the srs fuse out, if you are worried it will deploy off road..but I highly doubt that will happen.

I've already had 2 friends get hit by drunk drivers this year.. No big damage or injury but it's real enough.. Air bags work no doubt!
As far as pulling the fuse? I have a switch I can turn on and off for off road so that extra step seems a bit extreme... Maybe on a couple day off road trek or...those wonderful Idaho roads  ( I jest I jest)
I wonder if most cars have an option to turn them on and off?

I like the video of the old lady crossing the street, some guys blowing his horn for her to hurry up, she swings her bag at his bumper and the air bag goes off in his face.

Actually I never seen that feature on any car or ever heard of it before and I work on a lot of cars with airbag problems.

I think all modern cars (with the exception of the Honda NSX) suck a big bag of used dildos. There is not a single one out there I actually like. How much dumb, unnessary, electronics can they stuff into one car that can and do go bad?
It's all a bunch of f*cking garbage...

The nsx. The one car that actually sucked WORSE when boosted. Even honda admitted it.

It would be really nice if the airbag in the passenger seat would stop talking and let me concentrate on driving.
Oh wait... I forgot we were talking about an entirely different airbag. Frankly, I don't care if a car has one or not. I live by the philosophy that when your number is up, all the airbags in the world aren't going to stop you from seeing the pearl of gates.
One thing that does bug me though is they never release the number of people that have been killed by airbags, but will boast when they save lives and that makes me wonder what is actually going on.
