I do use mine. I like setting it at night and allowing it to slow cook whole grain oats for a healthy breakfast.

I also will cook large batches of beef taco meat, and after I've made tacos the first night, and subsequent leftovers of taco salad and nachos, i'll toss what's left of the meat in a crock pot with some corn and beans and diced tomatoes and make taco soup. top it with tortilla strips and cheese and you're golden

i'll use the crock pot to make some slow cooked chicken and it'll be so soft it falls apart. i'll sometimes toss in taco seasoning and make it this way for something different. as a single person with an active lifestyle, these are about the only two ways I use my crockpot, although there are other great recipes, it just seems there'd be too much in leftovers for me to ever finish alone

Try putting your meat in the crock, make a small bowl of tin foil on the top and put your veggie in it. Put the lid on, turn on low and when you come home from work your meal is waiting on you.

Here's the link to the previous Crock Pot thread...

https://DateHookup.dating/Thread-1238159.htm

Last week I was at Aldi and they had these pre-marinated Chili/Lime skinless/boneless chicken breasts on sale-- I lined my crock-- laid all the chicken (still frozen) on the bottom-- I made about a Cup of chicken stock using good Amish chicken soup base and boiling water-- added about 1/2 a Cup of salsa and some ground cumin and chili powder. Covered it and let it go on HIGH for about 6hrs-- pulled the meat out and shredded with 2 forks. I added some instant brown rice to the remaining liquid.

We've been using the meat and seasoned rice this week to make yummy Tostadas with some refried beans and cheese added-- just load em up and put in the toaster oven for a bit-- add some light sour cream and NOM NOM NOM

On Saturday-- I'm going to use the remaining shredded chicken to make Crock Pot White Chicken Chili

I've come up with a SUPA DUPA easy and delicious recipe for White Chicken Chili in my Crock Pot!

1) Line your crock--

2) put in 4 frozen chicken breasts--

3) heat 2 Cups of chicken stock to a boil and pour over the chicken. For making delicious broth-- I use a good brand of Chicken soup BASE that I get from the local Amish here-- plus some poultry seasoning and pepper-- Soup base is SO much better than bouillon-- you need to keep it in the fridge though since it has a bit of REAL chicken in it...

4) Cover and cook on HIGH for about 4hrs-- or low about 6hrs.

5) once the chicken is done-- pull the meat out with tongs and shred with 2 forks.

6) Strain your broth til it's nice and clear and return to the crock. Put the chicken back as well.

7) Next add in: 1 small jar of Randall brand Great Northern beans (you don't have to rinse em but feel free to if you want)- NEXT **the secret ingredient that adds ALL your chili flavor-- 1-2 packets of McCormick brand White Chicken Chili seasoning (1-for mild-- 2 for more spicy)-- 1 Cup of frozen sweet corn-- 1/2 of a loaf of light Cream Cheese (cubed up)-- 1/2--1 tsp each of Ground Cumin and Chili powder-- **if you want it even MORE spicy, you can add some diced up jalapeno to it as well.

8) Stir it all up-- cover and cook on HIGH for another hour.

9) Stir again before serving-- We like to top with some shredded SHARP cheddar and crumbled whole grain tortilla chips!

**This is NOT my picture-- but it does look just like the end result of my recipe-- very thick and hearty.

I would imagine some game is going to be difficult to cook in the crock pot left unattended all day. A lot of game is best cooked rare. Now I suppose if you did it on a weekend slow cooking in the crock pot where you could monitor its level of doneness it would work quite well.

I'm making my Sausage/Lentil Stew tomorrow-- I posted my recipe to a food blog and after she tweaked it to make a bigger batch-- she published it and credited ME

this is the pic from her blog...

I use the green lentils-- kielbasa or smoked sausage, diced celery, carrots, onions, canned diced tomatoes, beef stock, some ground cumin, a dash or two of Tobasco sauce, a dash of vinegar...

Once it's done-- I sometimes add some instant brown rice and give it about 20 min more to hang out and soak up the extra liquid.

I just used my crock pot for the first time a couple days ago, made an awesome beef vegetable soup. I have to get used to it; I found myself constantly checking up on it instead of just letting it do its thing. I could actually take a nap while soup was simmering and not worry about burning the house down.

It makes enough to feed a family (add some salad or fruit to round out the meal) I added some chicken tenders I got from Culvers-- I need more protein than just the soup...

NO PEEKING -- that's one of the #1 rules of Crock Pot cooking-- gotta keep the lid on-- keep that heat level up and keep that moisture in your food and not escaping the pot...

I love my slow cooker. The only problem is smelling the delicious food cooking for a few hours before you can eat it.

I think that all was said; make sure that you have enough liquid, and don't open the lid until it is done.

Mine is a cheap brand, but I have had it for years and it works great.

I use mine about twice a week-- a few days ago I made Cranberry Chicken--

4-6 Skinless/boneless chicken breasts (lay in bottom of a *Lined* crock pot)

In a bowl-- combine together:

1 Can whole berry Cranberry sauce

1 packet-- onion soup mix

1 8 oz bottle of Catalina salad dressing

Pour mixture over the chicken-- cook on LOW for 6 hrs-- or HIGH for 4 hrs

I serve with home made Rice Pilaf or I make up a couple boxes of Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Brown and Wild Rice Pilaf

Yesterday-- I tried a new recipe from Pinterest-- Hungarian Pot Roast with Sour Cream and Paprika Gravy-- I served with Egg Noodles

I just modified this recipe--

Easy Crock Pot Potato Soup
-------------------------

Ingredients:

1 30oz. bag of frozen diced hash browns
1 32 oz box of chicken broth
1 can of cream of chicken soup (10 oz)
1 pkg. cream cheese (8 oz, not fat free)
3 oz bacon bits
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:

Put the potatoes in the crockpot. Add in the chicken broth, cream of chicken soup and half of the bacon bits. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
Cook on low for 8 hours or until potatoes are tender.
An hour before serving, cut the cream cheese into small cubes. Place the cubes in the crock pot. Mix a few times throughout the hour before serving.
Once the cream cheese is completely mixed in, it's ready to serve.
Top with cheddar cheese and some additional bacon bits.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tweaked it a bit to make a Cheesy Broccoli/Potato/Ham Chowder

Use only 1/2 a bag of the frozen diced hash browns-- I also used a whole bag of frozen Broccoli florets-- I omitted the bacon bits

After cooking-- I added only 1/2 of the cream cheese (I use light kind)

I also added: 1/2 cup of cubed up Velveeta-- 3/4 Cup of shredded SHARP cheddar-- 1 Cup of cubed ham-- It wasn't as thick as I liked so I also added a mix of a bit of water and about 1 1/2 Tbs of corn starch. I stirred it up well, covered and let cook another 30 minutes on HIGH-- then stirred again.

This turned out SO good-- better than some restaurant versions I've had

I have 4 crock pots and use them all the time. From Dips to meals, deserts and even hot chocolate in the winter. Also have a lunch crock that I take to the office, makes a hot lunch and is ready when I am. Below is a great site and you can sign up for a daily recipe that gives you all kinds of ideas. A pressure cooker is also the bomb for stews and meats that are so tender, it is often overlooked or forgotten.

I use mine year round-- at least once a week, sometimes more-- I even have 2 crocks going at the same time some nights-- for ex. Ranch Pork Chops in one crock and Garlic Smashed Potatoes in another...

My boyfriend works evenings so often I'll make something and then reduce the crock to the "keep warm setting" so he can help himself when he gets home. I work from home but am usually on shift until a few hours after he gets home.

I made chicken and noodles on christmas.

1 pound chicken breasts add a can of creme of celery soup and fill the pot with chicken broth. If i want a thicker liquid i will add more creme of celery or chicken. basically cook it 6 hours, shred the chicken put it back in the pot. add a whole bag of reames frozen noodles. if you have a big slowcooker you may need 2 bags. basically you put a lot of the noodles in it till the liquid barely covers them. I turn the heat on high and cook for an hour. after an hour i'll test a noodle for doneness. I usually end up cooking the noodles on high for an hour to an hour and a half. basically the noodles absorb all the liquid and all you have left is chicken and noodles. it is quite good. Before cooking I usually add salt, pepper and italian seasonings.
