If you have the skills and the papers to back you. Nobody want's to hire you, and the demand for services is there. What is to stop someone from venturing out on their own?

Freelance or even subcontracting. With the way things are starting to look, and other issues to be considered shortly after the first of the year. Big boy's going or downsizing. Doesn't always mean that the demand will be less. Now think about who is going to pick up the slack? Some trades and skills that also do not require brick and mortar. Can bring things down to a reasonable price scale and still deliver quality. While still turning a buck to live.

. I guess I just thought I'd make this room for those people who are unemployed for some reason but aren't losers because I've discovered that a lot of women on here are looking for a needle in a haystack because they either want a totally independent Mr money bags because they are poor or live with family or roommates or they have kids. In most cases this is understandable of course. And I mean some people on here not all of them.

Do you have the start up cash to freelance or subcontract? Can you cover your living expenses, pay your taxes, insurance, and other fees during the time you are trying to build your customer base? Do you know how freaking cheap people are nowadays because they also know people are hurting? You don't just get an LLC slap a sign on your truck and presto you are busy! Also there is the competition to consider. Many will do anything to get rid of you bad mouth you or ruin your business! 90% of small businesses fail the first year for a good reason. 80 there second year. Its not something you can just DO! Depending on your skills you could become a consultant. Less risk, low over head and start up costs, less taxes. But then again depends..

Ok first millions are unemployed through no fault of their own. Second do not expect women to give shit! I was unemployed or partially employed for years before I got lucky and got the job I have now. But things could change at any time. I'm at the mercy of a wealthy guy who is also a screw ball. That being said I help my friends out who have small renovation businesses and other construction related companies. That means when I'm not on a boat catering to rich a** holes. I'm driving somewhere could be hundreds of miles to help a friend to collect some extra cash. I never know how this will work out, and the length of the jobs varies. Plus they deduct food and shelter sometimes depending. I'm not a mooch! But they are friends and I get paid pretty good. Sometimes you have to be ready to go to where the work is. I've thought about starting my own business and tried it once. There just wasn't enough work where I was period! And people are f**king cheap nowadays or doing allot of work themselves that they didn't used to. Sometimes they don't want to pay you or drag it out for ever. And if you have an LLC which thank God I didn't. You have to pay taxes whether you make money or not. City ,state, county, fed! Oh and don't forget your workmen's comp! Some states require you to have that even if you are the sole proprietor. Also you are going to need health insurance thanks to Obama! You need a significant amount of cash on hand to even think about starting your own business what ever it is. Unless you want to dog sit or clean houses? Depending on the business 30 to 50 k is preferable. 100K is ideal! Sometimes you can get a loan. But banks are not loaning unless you can triple the value of what the loan you in equity. Meaning do you have a 300k house that is paid for you can mortgage? Not trying to sound discouraging. But when some a** hat like Obama says just go start a small business! I want to slap the shit out of them! Of course he wants you to who do you think pays the most taxes!

Now if I where you you're still young right? Forget dating I know sucks right? Get your a** back to school. A trade school community college what ever. Then you will meet worthy women who are trying to better themselves to.

Gee maybe I should become a career counselor?

I am certified in automotive technology I have my own tools. And believe me I'm not gonna eff up nobody's car. Also I'm not here to talk about what I have or don't have except I'm not currently working. I may start my new job next week. I'm not leaving Cali either San Diego is a very nice place and most of the time the best weather in the world. Beaches and palm trees fast cars movies and ice cream. All kinds of cool stuff in San Diego county. And yes a lot of women and men care if the person they date has income. One of the first questions most people ask is what do you spend most of the time doing everyday for work. Put down on your profile for job don't say and watch. Girls will ask. Everyone says they don't care about money but that's never true. Money is a tree and the smaller majority of women who care more about you than a tree are usually genuine at heart. Try that you'll see. Happy holidays today is December 19 my bday.

Oh you're In San Diego! Yeah that is much better then Las Angelo's. But cost of living is astronomical. So you are a certified ASE auto mechanic but have no job or car?

Why again?

There are many different ways to get funding. Yes it does depend on what you do. Sure other businesses will badmouth you. Now are you one to go crying or lower your standards to their level? Sure people are hurting, but at the same time so is big business. Think about what could happen if all big business shut down. Than what are you going to do? Also look at how many are working under the table to bring home something to put on the table. How many are moonlighting just to make ends meet. Sure it's easy to just sit back and boo hoo about things and not really do anything. Never the less it's far better to get out and do something than nothing. If we all want to pull out of this mess. It's time to start working together. Biting each others head off does nothing but what they have tried to program us to do. Perhaps it's time to rewrite the program.

Sometimes it happens I was unemployed for like 6 months a few years ago and then I had to wait 5 months before a training class had to start. I think it's difficult and I don't think Badly of people that are. All you can do is apply for jobs, network, go to resume review events seriously helps. Best of luck op

One lots of assumptions about me huh? I worked under the table for years and still do want to know why? Work is not steady enough any where for me to pay taxes, insurance, and other fees. What do you do when you cant find work and have to pay taxes, rent, electric, phone bill, food,or other stupid state fees? Go hungry? Hock your tools then buy them back latter? Live in your truck? I have done all that and wont again. I'll keep working under the table by word of mouth and Craigs list. I've built up a good clientele but the economy still sucks.

And big box stores shut doors and close stores all the time. They can offered to do that and they get tax write offs for doing so! Does a small business? I can tell you have never worked for yourself have you? Or know much about business? Or you are just lucky? Because I have many friends I work for all over the country when they need me. The cards are stacked against the little guy and that's the way they want it to be! Am I boo hooing?

First thing dude. Take a chill pill. Now that is directed at you. The rest of my comments was based in general. So don't take things as being directed only at you. As a matter of fact I do work for myself as a small business. Also I network with other small businesses. Sure times are hard and that is for every one.

Now as for you. It already sounds like your on your way to working for yourself. I never did say how a person makes their living was wrong.
