I have been talking to this girl I met online who resides in Belarus and we did few Skype sessions (she has a great accent btw), and we seem to share several interests. If any you folks were in my position would you take a trip to another country to meet this person. Have any of you found and met love outside of the USA. We met on a dating site called Fdating.com. Would any of you travel abroad if you met someone online you have interest in?
I was thinking of taking a trip to Belarus this summer.

I did date someone overseas for 2 years. Loved her. But it just didn't work out. Would I date another foreign national overseas again? Maybe. But she would really have to be someone special.

I've done so. It worked for awhile, but not the long term. The cultural differences, family ties, etc, were too much.

What were some differences you experienced that terminate a developing relationship?

What were some differences you experienced that terminate a developing relationship?
....distance. Disagreements over relocation for both of us. Future plans that did not sync. It wasn't so much cultural, or family related issues. It was our futures that got in the way.

Good question.
I feel that I connect better with her than I had with anyone here close to home. We share similar interests. I'm too much of a good guy and not the bad boy that most women here desire. I think the culture difference might aid to my benefit.

For ONCE you're correct. The site I was on only had girls who looked like supermodels and were attracted to older men! They "fall in love" by the second email and then talk about nothing else so it is impossible to get to know anything about them. They demand money to get airfare over here so they can "check me out". At that point it always ended. If they are sincere I must conclude that they arenothing but a bunch of silly romantics who are completely out of touch with the realities of life. Not a damn one of them would have made it over here and a few of them could barely speak English. Every one of them was unemployable over her. Who knows if they looked as good as the pictures they sent. The whole site could have been run by a guy named Boris who's drinking beer in his underwear while pretending to be a gorgeous girl and scamming foolish American men out of their money.
I wouldn't recommend any Russian site.

You may be seated.
First, sorry to hear this happened. Second, as confucius says, "there is no truth, only perceptions of truth."
I met this girl face to face after communicating with her for a month. I was going on vacation to where she was anyways. I wasn't going there to see her. She appeared to be very sincere and asked me for nothing when I was with her or prior to meeting her. She introduced me to her 3 year old son. I had been lonely for a couple months and had been having regrets about never being a father. Her introducing me to her son had an effect on me as I believe it would to any rational human being with the same feelings. It just turned out to be a big con. 48 hours after returning home she started shaking me down for money every other day. I sent her 70 and then a week later 50. Never again after that. I make good money, so that was no big deal. I have had much experience with bullshit, that of myself and of others, so I saw through her. When someone is already hurting, this can be the death of a dream though. I stopped believing.
If it is still funny, then carry on. You deserve it.

Yes, I am obviously still quite lonely, as evidenced by how much I have to say about nothing for the past week but I know this will pass.

OP like most men and woman on here u talk to many other females. What makes her so different her accent that's it. I mean please man come back to planet earth k. U may have skyped this chick but how long have u 2 been talking? How well do U know this chick? U don't jump on a plain to another country because u like her damn accent. U better do a background on this chick to make sure she's not scamming u to come there. That's how this men and woman overseas catch stupid Americans who beleave there crap. So be smart and find out if who your skyping is who you'll be meeting when u get there. U could be talking with a chick who is not who you'll meet when u get there. Just be smart OP k. Do a background on her.

I wouldn't think of a Russian accent as being sexy? But ok.
To answer your question OP, no I will not date someone abroad. I won't even travel more than 30 minutes to an hour locally to meet a new guy. He has to be close or no dice. You can't completely trust someone you don't live close to and get to know about them through their friends and family. You just can't. I'd rather be cheated on here locally than to be an idiot and allow it when I know they're gonna do it if they live out of my state.

Remember the State Department has valued a green card at between 1/2 to 3/4 of a million dollars. So giving some foreign national several $100 a month that you actually met and spent the night with does NOT sound like a scam to me. Well for sure not a very big scam. The big scam is getting married and finding 20 relatives of hers living at your house.

Hey there are plenty of 20 somethings with daddy issues!
It's not all about the green card or visa card. Sometimes it's about the spanking and the being sent to bed early.

Belarus? No way. Every babe I've ever talked to from that area fell "in love" by the second email and then talked of nothing else. You couldn't learn a thing about her. Sooner or later they wanted to meet and demasnded money or tickets and that was that. I think they're all a bunch of very silly, foolish and immature romantics, but most do claim to hold very responsible positions. I wouldn't do it. Let her fly here (On her dime) and see what happens. See if you can get rid of her. I never wrote to one who was employable in this country or who could have adapted to the American way of life.
