what about spanking them? Spanking your child seems a little sexual. Making them bend over and you hitting them on the butt. I never understood why a parent would do that. Everyone knows that spanking is sexual, so why would it be any different if you spanked your child? Or is the proper way to discipline them giving them time out and or taking away their toys? Making them sit in a corner? Or straight out beating them? What is okay and why?

I don't hit or beat my son, hitting them never solves anything, talk to them respectfully and tell them what they are doing wrong and why it's wrong. If you hit your child for your child hitting someone then that just makes you look like a hypocrite people....

So beat them. That way they won't act out in public, and there will be less chance the big bad law won't beat or kill them. Got it.

Kids today, don't even know what it means to go without an "afternoon snack". Just imagine the shock and horror they would experience, if they were sent to bed with no supper.

I personally believe the right way to discipline your kid is to make fun of them when they are doing something stupid. Let them know how stupid they are, make a fool out of them.

OP, if you don't have children you're assuming what affect spanking will have on a child. Also, if you look at spanking as a sexual outlet you're a sick individual. My father use to whoop my butt with a belt. Not a damn thing sexual about it. He grew up in the country and that's what you got done to you when being punished.

I tried to stay out of this,I can't. I was beaten as a child. All the time and for no reason. No disrespect to my father.He had issues,did the best he knew how,I love him and loved him then,(he has been dead for 30 plus years). Mom could not intervene ,she tried,and that went real well. She would console me afterwards,which could have bred resentment,but I was blessed with the intelligence,even at age 7,to realize it was nothing I did or didnt do,(he said jump I did,no questions),but it was something within him. A 7 year old should not have to realize that,ever. Can you even imagine the confusion? I learned to read and avoidance for my escape. I never had to hit my kids,except one time when my daughter,then age four,ran from a store out into a parking lot in a fit b/c she didnt get her way. I snatched her up and two swats to the behind,she was so shocked she never ,ever ran from me again. Didnt listen,but never ran. A lady gave me some static about swatting her,and I said,"C'mon out here ,honey I'll give you a couple too! I'd rather her azz hurt than she should get hit by a car!" hell,my nickname for a few years was "nodad" 'cuz all my friends could here me scream it while getting beat,but ,hey,I survived,but look how f*cked up I am,I mean,I know it and deal with it best I can. I know I should'nt say all this for the public,but, DONT BEAT YOUR KIDS,ever,please,especially when angry....you dont want them to end up like me,that should be warning enough. As far as sexual,wow,and here I thought I was f*cked up!

hey nobs i can dig what you saying, but me, my sister and my brother were SERIOUSLY PHYSICALLY whipped with belt and the terrible IRON EXTENSION CORD because as kids we were wild, running, had our eyes arms and legs out growing expressively through life with all the other kids. we feared dad when he would come home after work. MAN, that punishment thing was something growing up in the 50s and 60s but everyone accepted it as the NORMAL part of child rearing. that's why it seems so strange to me today this thing called 'time-out' the most stupid thing i have ever heard it seem like. and in those instances when i had to stand before the little frecks in an instructor role, i used voice control and lots of other different benumbing strategies. my sis who retired as a math teacher years ago said it was impossible to teach them kids anymore in the class room. iow if i had a family growi9ng today, the little ones will respect the wrath of the hand. forget that 'go up to your room' and i certainly wouldn't starve no child. but look, this conversation has had several going overs here already. still
