So does anyone think someone could, meet someone and start a relationship.
Because I'm beginning to think its impossible.

Sometimes it's better to start out as friends before moving into a relationship. At least that way you get to know the person and then you can decide if you want a relationship with them. Good luck!

Definitely possible. I have done it myself a number of times since getting divorced years ago. Some last longer than others, and honestly, the only way to get experience is to make some mistakes along the way. The question is how you go about it and to be realistic in your expectations. I decided I had no expectations in dating and so if things didnt work out when I met someone, no loss.
There are a lot of crazy people out there. Realize that up front. Think about what you really have to have in someone, and limit that list to maybe 5 items. The rest is gravy. Go from there and put yourself in a position to actually meet people. Harder to do than just saying it, but it's like a job search in that you have to put effort into it.
One more thought.... have your own life in order first.
