DITTO

They are old enough to register, they are old enough to enlist, they are old enough to make their own decisions.

If I had sons (I don't) I would be thrilled to have them serve. On the other hand if I had daughters (I don't) I wouldn't be so sure of myself. A lot of articles have been written about sexual harassment in the military and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

I myself wanted to go in right after high school. However, a health issue kept me out of all branches of service.

To serve ones country has to be a high honor.

Went in three days after I turned 18. Don't regret a minute of it, but I'd strongly recommend the Air Force these days, especially for my child. (Full disclosure: I have none.)

I was a 3rd generation Marine so it seemed natural that my son would join....He opted for the Army....(traitor!) Just kidding.

I suggest to people that maybe he was just a bit smarter than the rest of us. He ended up at Fort Lost-in-the-woods in Missouri and became an MP and is still in. He made Staff NCO about 6 months ago and is generally happy with the lifestyle.

I am damn proud of him!

Hey! I was in the "Chair Force." But honestly, I don't mind jokes from the other services. I loved my job, and if other people think I was a p*ssy because I flew on a reconnaissance plane instead of kicking down doors and shooting people, oh well...
