Nope. I opened up my wallet, and currently fly a Cessna 182 RG. Yes, it does cost a lot. But while others are building and tweaking their planes, I just go out to the airport, grab the keys, and away I go.

Being an airplane renter does have it's pros and cons. However, I cut the FBO a deal. They only charge me for the hour meter, an I can pretty much have said plane whenever I ask for it. Even for vacations.

Most places want a daily minimum on the hour meter. This plane, being that it's a little used rental, they are glad to let me have it.

Flying cars are never going to become a reality until they find a way to tuck in the wings a little better.Standard type aircraft engines don't lend themselves very well to driving around in a car configuration. Some day somebody will come up with a combination that will work.

I did a little more checking on the specs of the Cessna 182 RG I fly. Not all of the specs, but the few that really matter. Here goes.

Long range fuel tanks. 80 gallons.
235 HP.
Air speed, 146 knots. Roughly, 170-175 MPH. Little more with a tail wind, little less with a head wind.
4 passenger. And just about any size. Not 4 midgets, dwarfs, or under the age of 10.
Cruising range, 6+ hours. Myself, I never go that far. I usually use the bladder method of flying. 2-3 hours. Use the bathroom, get gas, and eat something.

A flying car with specs anything less than what I posted? Please. I like to spend my time being there. NOT trying to get there.
