The coyote are supper...

All the Snakes are good too... they eat the mice in the fields and in the fruit orchards.
So mice and gophers are one of the only problem here.

And Flicker Birds too, that pick hole in side of wood houses and out buildings.
So stucco siding is the BEST way to go !

Last few years the wood bee (carpenter bee) is reeking havoc on any wood structure around. Then, the woodpeckers come for the lava morsels the bees have in their nest. The woodpeckers leave extensive damage. Since the tobacco crop production is gone from the state there is less and less chemical spraying, thus a come back of the pests.

Did the US Government stop $$$ subsidizing the tobacco farmers ?

wood bee (carpenter bee)

Don't think we have that problem here.. I have never hear about any reports of that.
Nothing ever mention on the daily AG reports ether.

Florida is full of the carpenter bees, great fun with an airsoft pistol...shoot them out of the air when hoovering. Built a bunch of tree stands out of redwood and it looked like someone had taken a machine gun to them between the bees and the woodpeckers after their larvae.

Squirrels. They drop pine cones on our heads when we sit out on the deck. They tease the cat and have him running up a tree to chase them. He gets stuck out on a limb and we have to help him land safely. I used to like them until I met this crazy bunch

Voles! They destroyed the yard, flower garden and they carry deadly diseases.
When walking on my Mom's lawn it is all spongy.

Wellllll zoe... I WAS about to poke fun at ya by telling you down here in TX, we have "Moles" instead of "Voles"! HOWEVER, after deciding to "Load My Brain Before I Shot My Mouth", I Googled "Vole" and dang if it isn't real! (WAS hoping to capitalize on your Misspelling of Mole but I now see you ruined my poke at ya! Looks to be really close critters. We also can have issues with those pesky goffers tunneling underground just below the surface....

Awww, you can still tease me Mysterydrifter.

Where my sister lives, the coyotes, foxes, fisher cats took care of the mice, rabbits and deer. When the coyotes move to another area, the population of rodents explodes.

I'm not really a farmer or rancher but a small town gal living in a big city. Growing up my parents depended on the garden vegetables to make it through the winter. Miss knowing my neighbors, listening to the crickets and watching the fireflies.

Same problem here in Michigan ...Moles - "Voles".... So does anybody
have a solution .... I've had luck by applying grub killer , have to do it when the weather changes to a steady warm- hot temperature

Moles are easier to get rid of than voles. Voles are also called meadow mice or field mice.
Voles are scavengers and eat bulbs, seeds, flowers, leaves, roots of shrubs and insects.Voles kill or severely injure trees and shrubs by girdling trunks, stems and sometimes roots when other food is scarce.

Moles are beneficial and eat mostly worms and grubs.

Not sure how beneficial moles are when they tear up the yard and tunnel which causes other problems , but I understand what you're saying about nature .....

I'd have to say packrats....leave your vehicle sitting for more than two days and you will have a nest in your air filter not to mention all your wiring chewed.

I have to agree about rats, they have chewed up wires on three trucks.

However today I'm fighting with beavers, they have dammed up the over flow of two ponds and dug dens into the pond dams.

When I was a kid we never had gray squirrels around here but now they have just about bred out the red squirrels. The red ones are much bigger and better tasting.

No...sorry...the red ones are little--smaller than the gray squirrels...the fox squirrels are the big ones--many different color variations.

Like anything else, depends where you are, we have grays and the bigger stupid fox here in Florida, but the fox were to tough unless you pressure cooked them but are protected now. Have pure white ones on my creek property here and a few miles away St Cloud FL has black ones both just mutants of the grey variety. Shot or rat trapped many in other states for camp meat and they all taste different depending on their food source, but the more you take out, the less likely they are to get in you provisions.

Keep a few kernels of corn with a hole drilled in them and a few rat traps for an emergency food source while traveling....most campgrounds are full of fat ones

I agree about the rats too, they've got hung up in my squirrel cage in my truck 2x & had a nest built on my ac condenser coils...found where they were getting to ac/squirrel cage and put hardware cloth to block em. Then they chewed spark plug wires 3x...I live waay out in country surrounded by woods so its hard to kill all of em. Have to be vigilant on poison being out. There is no food/grain laying around so that's not whats attracting them.

I have heard a good deterrent is predator urine or poop. They smell it & go Un oh...predator nearby & will avoid that area. I placed one of my cat's turds from the litterbox close to the spark plug wires...so far they haven't chewed anymore. Knock on wood...

Coons and weasels who have managed to eat about 8 of my chickens, 4 ducks and 3 of my baby turkeys. Most of who where in their pen! But a few good traps and an AR with a night scope helps take care of the problem. A little too late but better late than never

Also mice! Those varmint are everywhere when you live in the country. The manage to get in our cupboards which I am forever cleaning out and have also managed to get into our bug out bags by chewing through the backpacks to eat the dehydrated food.

We empty traps on a regular basis and even have several cats. Me thinks they are winning the battle though.
