Its just a few days away. What do you plan to do to remember it? For lots of Americans its meaningless, time to go swimming or grill out for the first time this year....its losing its meaning and that's a damn shame!

Hey irving! Hows life on the boat?
Still land locked. Close on the house 19 May. Got a marina slip in Stratford, CT. With cash in pocket I'll close on one of two boats in CT next week.

When I Lived in Fla, I was in a state run club, called Fin & Feather, it was a lottery thing.
I would pick an isolated reclaimed strip mine, reserve it, and go fishing.
60# test, Balloon,s, and 8 inch shiners. Find some Lilli pads and let mr shiner find me a Wiley E.
I caught one 10# plus, that I had mounted, but catch and release the rest, and these reclaimed strip mines held some big fish.
gators on the shores, basically ignored me, had one moment with a Moccasin that actually climbed in the boat and we danced , my fish net saved my ass.
But I always enjoyed the Solitude, only the sounds of Nature, no road noise, and I had over a 400 acres of water.
I do miss those days.
Now, I will probably, as I usually do, head to one of the Metro Parks and just walk one of the more Isolated Trails.
Yepper's that is pretty much my story, and I am sticking to it.
To my Fellow "Combat" Brother's. I wish you a Peaceful Day
Walter

Sounds like a good day jrbogie! Right now we are considering a road trip to some Civil War battle sites in Virginia and Pa. Maybe go to DC also. My gal and another couple has been after me to do it. Personally I would rather stay home and maybe just go to the VFW.
for a few rounds of drinks and some poker. We'll see.

Good stuff JR. For most it's a time for picnics, family get-togethers, etc.... . Maybe most will remember what it's about.
OT: I'm going to reflect on the day and I always have Old Glory flying.

Kentucky was pretty much split JR. The Mason-Dixon Line runs directly through the Bluegrass BTW. I guess we had a lot of fence-riders!

Some battles took place here jr. but the Union controlled most of the river which was a major highway for supplies etc into the South. Kentucky wasn't much of a prize otherwise for the sides to fight over...Its an old joke that we were on the side of whoever was in town and winning! The slavery issue wasn't as critical to the economy here although Kentucky had slaves working in agriculture here,
our cash crop was tobacco, not cotton.

Like all other Memorial days of recent years I spend it alone, camping. I camped in a location in southern Indiana which was owned and farmed by my Grandpa until our so-called benevolent government begin the process of imminent domain.PRIVATE PROPERTY IS A MYTH FOLKS I was illegally camping on Federal land which that FEDS stole from my Grampa. As far as I know the FEDS are buying up all the private land they can. Other folks like to sit at home and watch war movies ,smoke dope, get drunk, and light firecrackers. Yeah right. Last year ANT TV showed Battle of Britain? On the 4th of July? Dec. 7th the movie spoof "1941" with that stupid druggie John Belushi, No thanks. Neither of these have anything to do with either holiday. I listened to Alex Jones only last week on shortwave WWCR 4.845 and most folks he polled didn't even know what the 4th of July is even about.
