As the title says.

I am making a large terrarium. 40 gallon tank.

I want to create miniature replicas of these along the bottom.

Any ideas what to use? Clay won't work cause I don't have a kiln. The air dry clay has chemicals that will kill plants and moss. It needs to be a material that moss will grow on and won't rot.

I would look at Plaster of Paris.
It's easy to work with and there is an endless supply of molds.
Good Luck.

If you could find rocks in similar shapes, that would work and it would be environmentally friendly, as well.

Are you putting in water or fish?

Sandstone? It is carvable.

Maybe even a 3-d printer?

I would try mortar mix with some White Elmer glue or white Lansco sold in Home Depot, an additive to make mortar or tile mixes stick better, and may make it shine like the ones in the photo.

Have you ever made cement stepping stones?
I am going to experiment with this tomorrow.
I have cement hardener and Portland cement. It should be interesting.

GoTo yard sales or flea markets and collect those little ET figures that came in McDonalds kid meals. The mossy look can be achieved by wrapping some seaweed around the figures.
