People killing people , for psychological differences , that have nothing in common with widespread physical similarities .
Religion killed every hope of universal love , and acceptance . It taught us to hate everything outside of its parameters . It taught us to look down upon every creature . It taught us to look down upon all forms of life . It taught use to look down upon our own damn species .
A unity prescribed by nature , torn apart , by its own design .

How come no good has come from it then? Could be because it's a superstition about a guy who threw a bunch of pigs off a cliff? and said to hate yourself?

To be fair, there are some religions that are far superior regarding life. The Jains kill nothing and are strict vegetarians that eat only from the vine, not root vegetables that would die when pulled from the ground. They are so respectful of living things they wouldn't even kill a plant. They literally wouldn't kill a fly.
In contrast you have Jesus cursing a fig tree to death and killing a bunch of pigs because we got psycho. You can't expect a religion like that to teach universal love especially whe we find Jesus imploring his followers to hate their families, friends and selves to follow him.
There may be other aspects of Jainism that are delusional but it's regard for life it far surpasses anything on the planet.

You don't know the biblical narrative. Jesus cast out of a man, demons that had been tormenting the man. The demons found the nearest living things to kill.
But of course you do not believe in the Creator, or demons. You just love to bash the only source of hope and life we have. And that sounds quite demonic to me.

You don't know the biblical narrative. Jesus cast out of a man, demons that had been tormenting the man. The demons found the nearest living things to kill.
If the story is a historical account then Jesus and the man were both suffering mental disorders we have treatments for today. They didn't have the benefit of anti-psychotic medication. Cruelty to to animals is a disgusting trait making Jesus appear to be a psychopath.
But of course you do not believe in the Creator, or demons. You just love to bash the only source of hope and life we have. And that sounds quite demonic to me.
Which is evidence that psychotic disorder plays a great role in religious history and in your own life.
A religion based on pathological conditions is not just worthless but harmful.

When we not are ready to step out of "ego" and try to question God, we are drawn back to "self" and believe even stronger with no doubt that we are self-sufficient and independent of our Creator.
Unless we at least take the scales from our eyes, and cast "self" aside, take time to open our thoughts, let go of rebellious behaviors that just engross "the me and only me" attitude, question and break those stony walls around our hearts, we could be left to self and be robbed of Godly embrace.

Aside from the Crusades, this is very true, and wonderfully stated. We must be clear on this point. The Crusades were financed by Rome, and that so called church that resides there.

There is no question that mere "religion" can be very destructive and evil. We see this to our detriment with Islamic extremist terrorists.
We must also remember that they were very religious people that murdered Jesus.
Why did they want Jesus killed?
He gave hope to people, like no one else did.

Just the crusades?
What about the European holy wars?
The European wars of religion were a series of religious wars waged in Europe from ca. 1524 to 1648, following the onset of the Protestant Reformation in Central, Western and Northern Europe. Although sometimes unconnected, all of these wars were strongly influenced by the religious change of the period, and the conflict and rivalry that it produced. This is not to say that the combatants can be neatly categorised by religion or were divided by their religion alone, as this was often not the case.
Individual conflicts that can be distinguished within this topic include:
Conflicts immediately connected with the Reformation of the 1520s to 1540s:
The German Peasants' War (1524–1525)
The battle of Kappel in Switzerland (1531)
The Schmalkaldic War (1546–1547) in the Holy Roman Empire
The Eighty Years' War (1568–1648) in the Low Countries
The French Wars of Religion (1562–1598)
The Thirty Years' War (1618–1648), affecting the Holy Roman Empire including Habsburg Austria and Bohemia, France, Denmark and Sweden
The Wars of the Three Kingdoms (1639–1651), affecting England, Scotland and Ireland
Scottish Reformation and Civil Wars
English Reformation and Civil War
Irish Confederate Wars and the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland
Although later wars such as the Nine Years' War (1688–97) had a religious component that was important locally in some arenas, they were more fundamentally undertaken for political reasons, with coalitions forming across religious divisions. Purely political motivations and cross-religious alliances were also significant in many of the earlier wars.
The settlement of the "new world"( the Americas north & south)?

Well said I agree with your vision, but the big problem you see is that the hippies from the 1960's are older than dirt today. A lot of them grew up, cut their hair, created multi-billion dollar multi national companies that decimated our natural resources as well as bankrupt nations of any remaining wealth for future generations.
All is not lost my Bohemian brother. There are still hippie relics like Bernie Sanders still around,. He’ll elevate our species once again so we can have the same rights as our dogs. Anyways we’ve made progress since the influence of religion has be neutralized in our Western culture. I mean really. Had religion continued to rear its ugly head, we'd have to know that Caitlyn Jenner once had(or still has) testicles. Godless equality and flower power my brother, acid is still groovy, don’t lose hope ok? Peace lol

Dear Popeye,
can you bless the believers on this forum with act of sacrifice? Take a ride on your boat about 10 miles offshore. Shackle your leg to 300lb anchor , leave the key on the boat then, throw the anchor overboard into the Gulf of Mexico Pretty sure even the sharks won’t have anything to do with the tainted blood that flows through your varicose veins. So all you’ll really have to be concerned with is whether or not your lungs will fill up with saltwater or that you’ll be featured on Unsolved Mysteries, but at least this forum will be rid and sanctified of your nefarious presence. lol

I dont condone hateful statements but I will say that this is what Sail and the others are trying to get out of others. Sail and the others have no intention of accepting Truth. They know God is real but simply refuse to accept Him. In the mean time people be smarter than them and ignore them, not letting them provoke you as they try so hard to do.

But only as long as people -from all religions- donate the food, clothes and other things needed by the people you mentioned.
BTW, the municipal pantry is the larger donator of food to all the churches in the area.
No, dear, don't tell me NO because I drive few old ladies to the local food pantries, I knit blankets for the veterans and I collect clothes for the homeless.

Whats more important, whether someone hungry eats, or whether someone takes the credit for feeding them?
The people at my church feed the hungry every Sat morning. No salary, no media, no press releases, no votes, no requests to the hungry to attend or feel obligated to any mass or church function. No tax deductions for their time, not even a facebook photo with a gazillion Likes. The hungry just eat, say thanks, and they're off on their merry way.
They live their faith, and answer the call of the Spirit. So Even if God is invisible to some, the acts of mercy by His believers are not. IF atheists want to mock the faith of these people for what they profess to believe and how they live their lives, then don't be so shocked that some like myself will not take too kindly and will respond in a very uncharitable manner.

It's more important to you than to me or her, because she blocked me and ran away with her tail between her legs after that post. It didn't come up again until you made mention of it. In your case ..... I suggest you remove your head.
Peace
Mr Bobblehead you've been getting owned on every post, often times with your worn out atheistic rhetoric that you just rehash and repackage across every single thread. The only difference is you've dragged your vassal harlots to rescue you.
It's just been to the delight of all of us who loath everything you stand for that you end up eating your own excrement. So lets continue this, since your raging narcissismd doesn't seem like it will allow your antiphons to cease.

It's more important to you than to me or her, because she blocked me and ran away with her tail between her legs after that post. It didn't come up again until you made mention of it. And you only brought it up to find some talking point about hypocrisy Christians violate that atheists don't. That's all it is, nothing more.
Don't be offended by her block..She blocked me a while back ago too.
She's quick on that drawl with that block button..

I don't blame religion for the acts of mankind. I blame man kinds ego's for using religion as an excuse to do bad things.
Exactly. Religion is mankinds way to reach God. Jesus The Christ is God's way to reach man.
And mankind has failed miserably but God hasn't.

What falls under everything?
The natural universe . Its hard for some people to realize that they are a part of something greater .
Thanks to our advanced creative abilities , we can image a universe that we are in control of . The comfort , and security , we feel from such a vision are genuine , even when its a "placebo stand in" for the real thing .
This ability to control our fears , with faith , allows us to operate heavy machinery without any worry , even though things can go horribly wrong , in the blink of an eye .

There is no question that mere "religion" can be very destructive and evil. We see this to our detriment with Islamic extremist terrorists.
We must also remember that they were very religious people that murdered Jesus.
Why did they want Jesus killed?
He gave hope to people, like no one else did.
I agree . He taught people that they didn't need a middleman , and the middleman assassinated him .

Who have in no way caught up with Christian terrorism that rampaged throughout Europe during the Inquisitions, Jewish Holocaust, Native American holocaust and currently in Africa.
We must also remember that they were very religious people that murdered Jesus.
According to the myth the Romans actually carried out the crucifixion but were given the go ahead by the Jews. You know, the religious Christ killers. Barabbas was let go.
Why did they want Jesus killed?
Political reasons. But then again Christians love the idea that Jesus gave his blood as a requirement.
He gave hope to people, like no one else did.
Jesus is a copied myth so there were others from before who gave hope. Hercules, Apollonius of Tyana, Horus, Apollo,Zeus, etc..
It's ironic considering what your religion has done to you that you to condemn other religions.

I don't blame religion for everything. If a volcano explodes it wasn't caused by anyone religious. If a tornado strikes, it wasn't caused by religion. Religion is a crock of superstitious bullshit, filled with mentally inferior minds but it didn't cause any natural disasters.
Religion is worth some praise. It's provides a lot laughter for a lot people from it's ongoing comedic dope show. Religious loons are quiet often funny. Lud's dull wit is a hoot. Fog's monotonous ramblings are funny. Blake's obsession with the gay lifestyle is also funny. Maybe it's wrong to laugh at someone's mental illness but I always urge the loons to seek mental health care. It just so happens their loony shit is hilarious.
So in this regard I praise religion. While life and the world would be better without it but it would also be a bit more dull.

People have no tolerance for diversity , they think that everybody has to be like them , and they get angry at people who aren't .
Diversity , of all forms of life , is what makes this planet so amazing . It should be celebrated , not shunned . Diversity is responsible for each individuals personal success , and its responsible for every success shared by any group of individuals .
Rejecting people , because they're different , is responsible for each , and every conflict the human race has ever had .

Love, Grace, Humility, Kindness, Patience, and Long suffering is not a religion. It is LIFE.
Any Man/Woman who truly believes in Christ understood his acts towards another human being.
In his acts he denied himself for the sake of others. Christ layed down his Life and did not hide from death not for the sake of himself but for the sake of others. Christ Loves and his testimony(words backed by actions) is of Love.
Religions devide Love causing one group of people to be against another group of people in their beliefs which sooner or later will cause wars and separate Men/Women from the act of LOVE.
Are we gonna continue to fight over which religion is chosen by God and which religion isn't? Or are we going to wake up and see that LOVE is LIFE and not a religion? That one act of Love towards another human being is greater than that of any religion that has even been or will ever be.
