After learning about all the different asexual terms on Aven I am quite sure that the description of a Queer platonic fits me best. I was in a relationship w/a woman for 30 yrs. until she died of cancer. We did everything together, except we each had our own bedroom in the house we shared. I loved her dearly, and after loosing her in 2007 am finally ready to look for another life partner. Although not as young as I used to be, feel that I do not have to spend the rest of my life alone. Since by now am realizing that no one will come knocking on my door, I am making a serious effort to put myself out there. Am 61 and am looking for my special friend between 58 and 68 yrs. of age. It is impossible to be "queer platonic."
"Queer" entails sexual activity of a homosexual nature.
"Platonic" entails a lack of sexual activity of any sort.
If you MUST label yourself, consider using: "under-educated", or "Idiotic", or mis-informed", or "psychotic", or "confused", or "gullible".
Figure out what you are, and are not, before looking for someone to live with.
From your description, you seem to have been "celibate". Do you want to be in another celibate relationship, or do you want the next one to be sexual? If you want a sexual relationship, do you want it to be: heterosexual (straight), or homosexual (gay), or bis-sexual (doing males, and females)? Do you want the new relationship to be "open" (both of you are free to play around with others), or "closed" (both of you being faithfully monogamous to each other)?
Figure such things out before you find anyone...so you can accurately explain what you do, and do not, want.

Good luck in your search, OP.
Homemates, even of the same gender, often develop a closeness much like any married couple, even with no sexual contact.
My condolences on your loss and my thoughts for you finding a new life mate.

But, you are correct....if women get older and loose that edge.
Well sure...things change and they find their selves on the other end of the stick having to work some to get what they hope to get.
I think more women should realize this, before its too late.
